I've never watched a movie about aliens and left satisfied

I vaguely remember that movie was more of a suspense thriller...

Yeah, it wasn't really "about" aliens. It just happened to have aliens in the movie.

I didn't like it at all when I first saw it, but I actually really like Signs now & watch it every few years. The only thing that bugs me is the end scene with the baseball bat & the water, I still think that was kind of a stupid way to go.

I expect pure fantasy, not enlightenment. Aliens are a human invention.

My main peeve with alien movies is their anti-human agenda. They pretend mankind is an infection to be eradicated. Lots of skulls full of mush will by into those silly notions, and embrace genocide.
It's easy to dismiss such notions as pure character development within the story, but the people that write these movies actually believe this, so it's more preaching than mindless entertainment.

2001 a Space Odyssey IMO is the best film ever made.

THat said, I do love some of the more corny ones like "The Last Starfighter" or "The Navigator" or "Explorers."

Really desire a movie about an alien race that develops interstellar travel coming to earth and doing what would happen in real life. Wreck our world. I guess that turd of a move Skyline implied we got rolled. But of course had to finish with the human about to turn the tide. War of the Worlds was going down this track until the aliens caught a cold. Battle LA the aliens were kicking our ass until we found the drone facility.

Unfortunately in movies, unless it is coming from Japan, the humans are always going to win out. You will be hard pressed to see a major motion picture where 1. There are no humans, or 2. The humans don't win or 3. There is not some sort of feel good underlying premise to show 'humanity'.

This is because they think that without a human element, no one will be able to 'like' the movie because they can't empathize, yada yada so the movie will flop. It is interesting that they think this, but yet release some of the trash they do and still wonder why it flopped. You can't tell me someone sitting there doesn't just facepalm throughout the entire meeting.

A gold star for you, for being the only other person on this forum who has seen The Last Starfigher 😀

you guys do realize i'm talking about movies where we as the humans meet aliens for the first time. The movie always leaves you hanging.

In the OP you mentioned looking for enlightenment, what exactly do you mean? I thought Contact was great; kind of the point of the movie was to leave you hanging because the point was to make that first contact. Have you seen District 9? That's more telling of what would happen if the aliens stuck around for awhile, haha.

Lifeforce is great. It's a British movie -and they tend to have less hangups about nudity. It even has Patrick Stewart in it (not naked). I don't think that man ever had hair.

Yar! Use to watch the Benny Hill show just to see some neked ta ta's now and then. Yes young men have one thing on their mind.
