I've never watched a movie about aliens and left satisfied

Really desire a movie about an alien race that develops interstellar travel coming to earth and doing what would happen in real life. Wreck our world. I guess that turd of a move Skyline implied we got rolled. But of course had to finish with the human about to turn the tide. War of the Worlds was going down this track until the aliens caught a cold. Battle LA the aliens were kicking our ass until we found the drone facility.

You should try Battlefield Earth.

No, that project was shitcanned. Ridley took over and snuffed it in favor of Prometheus and that abomination Alien:Covenant.

Signs was terrible.
I vaguely remember that movie was more of a suspense thriller... I mean, the aliens typically start off as being "unknown" creatures. You don't know their intentions or what they look like.... It's up to the director to reveal those things. The director chose to use news footage on a sd tv that was actually shaky camcorder footage with motion-blur.... I mean, I suppose now it'd be the same as cellphone footage...but the actual movie was so much better prior to that scene. I just remember watching that movie for the first time and losing interest when I saw that scene.

Independence day did the same kind of thing...they didn't show the aliens close-up too much. They used smoke and tentacles...possibly strobe lights and camera timings to make the aliens scarier. It's like the Jaws movies... When they show the shark too much, you can tell its fake and start caring less. It's rare that anyone writes a movie script for an alien with dialogue...
