I've never seen so much food in one order

So a fairly new Chinese restaurant puts a flyer under our door today. My roomate and I say "ok" and decide to order some General Tsos.

Each order was $8 and this is what 1 order looks like:

That's a 14" plate and the food is about 3" high. Plus we got 2 free drinks.

Jealous?

Wait till they have been open for 3 months,
the servings will prob be 40% less. 😉

Looks Yummy.

A new chinese restaurant opened around where I lived. My friends and I were one of the first usual customers there and they treated us nice, giving us extra portions. After they've been open for a while, they weren't as nice and the last time we went, it just sucked.

pfft ... the Japanese place in the malls around here give you more than that for $5.99. Teryaki Chicken w/rice and vegetables ... mmmmm.

I have my regular chinese places around here that I go to at least once a week, so I tip them well and I get free egg rolls and drinks, and always get big portions.

Was that spicey or mild?

It was supposed to be spicy, but this is New York and I'm from the south, so I'm used to some more serious heat.

Bingo. As time goes on, all restaurants (and businesses in general for the most part) get stingier and stingier.

Make that "people in general" and I will agree with you

Was it good? That's the question.

They may not change. Over a year ago a Chinese buffet opened here -- with a promotional special. The food was exceptional, wide variety and several expensive items including a very good sushi bar. We went several times figuring we had best make the most of something too good to last. It has not deteriorated and the price is so reasonable we marvel they can make a profit or stay in business. The help and kitchen staff are all first generation Chinese so lanuguage is a bit of a problem -- but it is amazing what a bit of smiling and pointing can do. Needless to say we are regulars.

Hope your restaurant has the same happy future.
