In fact, with the exception of a focus on a 'pure race' the Nazis had nothing to distinguish their societies from the communists.

Nazism occurs where there is tremendous repressed hostility as in a religious group that teaches and professes love but doesn't feel it. Nazis fear feeling. They thus project their own suppressed hate out into the world and experience terror, the sense that the world hates them, the other. So they focus on finding somebody they can dump their hate on, somebody, via bigotry, they can mark as evil. The mark can be a nose, a hair style, the color of skin, a nationality, or a religion.

These people, these Nazis are us. We can become them any time our self hate tries to manifest or become conscious. We will become Nazis before we will allow ourselves to feel how bad we feel.

There is no way to refute Nazi belief, because it is totally irrational. It is a way to stave off the feeling one will go insane if one expresses ones hate honestly.

The only Nazi you can fight is the one inside of you. You are the only person you can help.

Nazi Germany had private ownership of companies, permitted religious activities, had private home ownership, etc., while its communist counterpart at the time was the USSR, which had none of these.

As for the conservative comparison, they encouraged companies to violate international laws and treaties, suppressed strikes to benefit companies, built government funded transportation for companies, preached the "those not like us are not to be trusted" line so familiar today, security took precedence over individual rights, etc..

Yes car companies like Porsche, Mercedes, and BMW didn't enjoy giant profits from the war at all. Seriously the claim that the nazis were left-wing just doesn't hold an ounce of water. National health care is more of a "first world" idea than "left wing"

When Heindenberg refused to give the Chancellorship to Hitler, the elite and other businessmen hatched a deal that would allow Hitler to be Chancellor and one of their own to be vice-Chancellor in order to 'contain' Hitler. That didn't work out so well. The elite chose Hitler because it was either him or the German communists and they didn't like them one bit.

Socialism does not mean you cannot make a profit just that it must be done at the behest of government interests/agendas.

Also the NAZI party was very much so a socialist movement using ideas of class and race warfare to push their socialist government agenda.

Hitler also used the European socialist and capitalist fears toward the communist movement to further his agenda. To the Capitalist he told them to either cooperate or be feed to the communist wolves and to the his fellow Socialist he rallied them to his banner to fight the spread of Communism which many European Socialists felt was a perversion of their ideological political and economic view points.

This does not mean that the Communist were the "good" guys. They were in fact just as bad and if it weren't for Hitler we'd be talking about "Goodwin's law on Stalin and Communism".

Edit: Many Jewish bankers and businesses owners were also vilified proponents of Capitalism as Jews had a strong precense in the financial institutions of Germany. Hitler revolutionized social welfare in Germany.

You did know Germany was the technology and social powerhouse? They recovered faster than any country affected by WWI. Germans were one of the most educated people on the planet, certainly than Americans.

Hitler also delivered on many of his promises. His economic policies were sound and he expanded the middle class immensely.
