I've never really understood--what's a "server" for?

shoot, i had taken apart, rebuilt and built MANY pc's before finally understanding what a "SERVER" really is.

I still sometimes think of Servers = Mainframes (cause i'm old you see).

Are you talking about me? I have an old(er) p3-866 that runs Linux and acts as a web server, email server, firewall, router, ad blocker, etc...

It's cheaper than paying for the servives.
