As i said ive never networked before and im getting a cable connection on june first.
I need a connection on both computers but dont want to go wireless due to the cost (I know but im low on cash). So i thought about a 4 port Router.

Will i need any speacial hardware cards or will the cables go into the mobo?
Any other suggestions?

Any help at all would be great.

Yes, a simple wired router will do the trick. I would stay away from belkin their wired routers are absolute trash (me + many others have had similiar probs with the router freezing the connection needing a restart after a few months). Honestly though if you check out sales at your local retail stores you could probably find a really inexpensive wireless router on sale. Wired routers don't ever seem to go on sale but wireless sometimes are cheaper then wired. I would just buy a wireless one and disable the wireless to begin. Later when you get some cash buy the wireless adapters for the computers.

Summary: Buy a wireless router (disable wireless later) on sale + ethernet cables --> hook to PCs --> share the internet.

As he said:
1. Buy ethernet router
2. Buy ethernet cable Cat5(e)
3. Hook up ethernet cable from modem to "WAN" port on router.
4. Hook up computer one with ethernet cable to port 1 on router.
5. Hook up computer two with ethernet cable to port 2 on router.

-=Optional=-
1. Modify router settings to suit your purpose.

Lots of motherboards already have ethernet on them. If yours doesnt then you need to either already have a pci ethernet card or get one.
