Try Pampas for a start, they have locations in Worcester and Somerville, or Gauchao which is also in Somerville.

The Pampas in Las Vegas was absolutely terrible. Not worth $5, let alone what they charged. If your Pampas is the same, I recommend staying far, far away.

There are some really good Brazilian steakhouses - I've never heard them called BBQ before - in the US. I don't know MA's market. But for example, there's a nice one in NYC.

while this wont help the OP i saw brazillian bbq and got excited.

i've been to 2, one in barbados, and one in virginia. the one in barbados was my first and it was just okay, was nothing to write home about at all.

the one in VA however was fucking amazin, it is called Chima.

I'm actually going to one tomorrow for my wifes birthday called Fogo De Chao, which is apparently better than Chima so I'm pretty excited since I thought Chima was amazing.

Somerville and the Allston/Brighton area should have plenty; we're inundated with Brazilians

Texas de Brazil or Fogo de Chao are both incredibly good, IMO. The salad/cold bar is worth the price itself, almost.

Fogo is awesome, and this is coming from someone who went to several Brazilian steakhouses in southern Brazil (Curitiba area). I've been to a couple of others in the US as well (one in Atlanta and one outside of NYC around Orangeburg), but I don't remember their names. They were awesome as well but I think Fogo had them beat.

Going to another country doesn't somehow make the US equivalent of that countries food "not good". I've been to Rome, and I can find plenty of places in the US that have better Italian food than where I ate there. I'm sure the same is true with Brazilian BBQ.

I enjoyed the food in Italy, but "Italian" food in America is certainly different and, in my view, awesome as well.

How is it unhelpful and useless?

I have never been to a place that called itself a "Brazilian Barbecue" in the US that was even worth a quarter the price they charged. As I said, it's a waste of time to try and go to one in the US. They're just plain not good.

Go to a normal steakhouse. Better use of time and money.

I've been to several different Brazilian steakhouses in Brazil, and while they were very good, Fogo de Chao was better than all of them.

It is like the people running around and saying "I've been to Italy, and what we have in the US is not really authentic!" Well, I actually have been to Italy as well and while the food is great and different than what we have as "Italian" in the US, it by no means suggests that our American "Italian" foods aren't awesome as well.

There is a cool place in Hartford, CT called Brazil Grill that sells their BBQ by the pound... it ends up being cheaper than the whole "meat runner" thing if you're not a huge meat eater.

That said, if you're not a huge meat eater you should probably turn in your man card :)

There is nothing better than Fogo de Chao but for $60 a head...............

I've been to the one in Cambridge - we had a bachelor party out in Boston and I set 15 of us with reservations. Food was good, meats were tasty. Sides & salad were disappointing compared to Fogo de Chao but then again its only $25 for dinner at midwestgrill.

I'm a meat lover and I would rape a place like that.

Also, make sure you try a caipirinha. If the place you go to can't give you a caipirinha made from cachaca, then you might want to try somewhere else. This is what it should look like:

I will say this -- Fogo makes pretty good caipirinhas, but my homemade ones are better. And stronger. :)

I've only been to the Fogo de Chao in Chicago, and I found it completely underwhelming for the cost. The meat was great, mind you, but it simply wasn't worth the cost. The salad bar is amazing, but it's somewhat anathema to the place.

I much prefer the Argentinian steakhouse where I lived in the city, for perhaps 1/4, 1/5 the cost, and better meat.
