i don't really think they work that well. coffee (espresso, specifically) always works better for me and it tastes much better, imo.

they all taste like variations of mt. dew, imo.

I cant tell. Mountain Dew (regular) is best to me. But those budweiser ones are really good, but expensive. It seems every geek likes the Blue Bawls ones, but ive never seen one in a store in my area, and really dont care for blue balls.

I just read it in a newspaper that energy drinks are nothing more than a strong shot of caffein and therefore can be addictive as well. There is no magic potion.

It depends on how sensitive one is to caffeine. As that's pretty much what they are.

If you want a quick pick me up, go to the drug store and buy some no-doz, vivarin or a generic caffeine pill. It's much much cheaper than coffee or energy drinks, more compact and much more neat.

Yeah, but then you throw in a hefty amount of sugar too. They're basically just suped up sodas.

It depends on the drink and the drip of coffee, but they are comparible. Some coffee is stronger, but most of those 16oz cans have more caffeine than coffee.
There are usually two caffeine ingredients listed. "Caffeine" which is self explanatory, and "Guarana" which is caffeine with a different name.

Depends. Monster and Amped don't do that much for me. Starbux Doubleshots do a lot more, but I think they're not too strong either because there's so much cream. I heard if you try Crunk, that's 5x as strong as a doubleshot.. dunno

I tried Red Bull before when I went to a basketball game feeling tired and sleepy. It didn't help at all.

Monster is good, Full Throttle is good. Yes they work, but it's not like magic, there are some side effects (hard to focus for one).

Talk about a marketing success, twice the cost of soda for essentially the same thing.

Well... I don't know about everyone else but they definately work for me! I have a bad tendancy to get drowsy driving long distances especially when the scenery is monotonous. Blame it on the parents who used to drive me around as a baby to get me to fall asleep. I've tried using coffee and cokes before to help me stay awake. None of them really worked.
Then during a trip down to Naples FL I decided to give one of these Monster energy drinks a try. After drinking that thing I was able to drive 7 hours straight only stopping to pee once and never got drowsy. Ever since then I've been drinking one before I drive more than 2 hours and haven't really had a drowsiness problem since. :)

Buy a gas station cappuchino instead, it works much better and is cheaper to boot. They use the same formula of "lots of sugar+caffeine", but make it taste better. Plus it's hot...good for those cold, grey days.

They usually keep me from getting sleepy...I love Monster. The main reason I buy them is because I love the taste.

This is correct. Energy drinks are nothing more than excess suger and caffeine.
