You need to play with other people in order to have fun. Maybe all the friends you used to play with got tired of it and thats why you're going through that stage. I still play games sometimes, but its whittled down to just Starcraft and Civilization 4.

im 39 and still love games. i know people that still play in their 50s and 60s, so i know its not really an age thing. could be just a focus thing.

My UT clan is composed of members over 30. We have a few that are younger, but the average age is about 40. I think our oldest is 56. I'm much pickier about the games I play now. I used to play just about anything, but now I play maybe 1 or 2 new games per year. UT2k4 is my primary game, and the last games I got were OrangeBox and Bioshock.

My dad is 58, and he plays the hell out of video games still. Of course, he's retired, so he has lots of time to kill.

It's great, though, as we play the hell out of the zombie levels in CoD5 (Xbox) at night. Nowadays, I find video games to be a great way to spend time with friends. I'll never quit gaming, but the urges definitely come and go.

same here
seriously.. FPS games are getting seriously boring. There's hardly any new games out now that isn't just a graphics update of older games. You might have some interesting spins on weapons, but that's about it.

I also lost interest.
I mark it up to seeing that they are all very similar.

Also, it's part of growing up.
Interests ebb and flow.

I used to be super into video game but now I just feel so much regret whenever I play. It sucks away so much time and I feel like I could have done much better things with my time than sit there frittering away with games. I don't get much satisfaction from them. I'd rather be out gardening, reading or socializing with friends. Even listening to music and sipping a glass of wine and looking out the window feels more purposeful than being sucked into a game. I wasted a good year of my life playing CS:S for hours every day. I wish I could get that time back. I learned my lesson.

Same here, I used to waste months on end playing games and then woke up one day and decided it was time to take a break. Now that I?m older I find myself playing games less and less, only a few games catch my interest enough for me to sit and play them for an hour but even then I?ll way away feeling I could have used that time better.

Now I spend time taking photos, working on my car, tinkering with my paintball guns and other things that are way more fulfilling than video games. At the end of the day, no one really gives a hoot if you got three head shots in a row.

Video games are no more or less of a waste of time than what either of you are doing now. At the end of the day, no one really gives a hoot how well your car runs, how well you do at paintball, etc ;)
Ultimately it's about fulfillment, and if gaming doesn't fulfill you, that's fine. Just don't deride it as a waste of time simply because you no longer find it fulfilling.

Well, I'm spending my former video game time working on a masters degree and completing a novel as well as expanding my garden into a major food production source that is already generating some small income on the side. By mid-summer, I'm going to have more veggies than I know what to do with.

Trust me, I'm not deriding video games. But some hobbies provide growth, literally and figuratively. When the power goes out, I'm not shut out of what I do with my time.

Play the DS, duh! ;)

Although I imagine working on your masters or novel is probably a little more difficult without power, no? :p

HEhee. There is a lot of reading, though. I can always light a candle and use a pad or pen. Plus my laptop has a decent battery and a spare.

I still play at times on weekends only, but only very few games as opposed to many in the past. I don't worry about the power of my CPU/GPU as much as I use to. Lately I have been heavy into music.

As has been well covered in the thread already, no more so than a huge number of other leisure activities.
