I've lost 7 gigs somewhere?

When I go to my hard drive and check its properties, it tells me that I have used 27 gigs. However, When I go into my hard drive and select all of its contents and check the properties it tells me that I have only used 20 gigs. I have already checked to make sure that the folders are showing the hidden files. Am I missing something? Please help.

I am running winxp pro. I have ran defragmenter, and it helped some. It gave me a gig back. It still is about 6 gigs short. When xp saves restore points, where does it put them? I'm wondering if this is some of it.

Good idea to clear the restore points.

What you do is right click on your hard drive and click propertities. Run disk cleanup and once that is done goto the "More Options" tab and at the bottom is a button that allows you to clean up the system restore.

If you have non-system partitions, I suggest turning off system restore for them. You can do this by going to System Properties and then click on the system restore tab. There you can select how much space you want system restore to take up and which drives you want to monitor.

Hope this helps ya!
