I've lost 10lbs and still don't have a 6-pack

JEDI

Lifer
i'm 5'9"

I've always been ~150lbs since college.

I've done several half hearted tries at a 6-pack stomach over the years.

I figured I needed to get rid of the layer of fat on my stomach to get the muscles to show.

10lbs weight loss later, and i still have a layer of fat, albeit less fat.

Suggestions?

Just because you lost 10 lbs doesn't mean you lost it in your stomach. For many people, a visible six-pack is not possible while they do have six packs underneath.

I think part of problem may be genetics. Some people just store more in fat in certain places than others. If you are genetically predisposed to collect fat there, there isn't a whole lot you can do short of become a human skeleton. What kind of ab work do you do? Working your abs more won't specifically burn off your stomach fat, but it may help your abs show through.

Yep. Same reason I have some crazy man tits. I'm average weight, so I look forward to turning the rest into muscle. 8)

6'2", 155/160 pounds.

<---- 8 pack.

Do you do sit-ups or run? I run about 50 miles a week and do 200 sit-ups a day. Losing weight wont necessarily get you the results you want, you have to tone the muscle with excercise.

Try putting on 20lbs (as much lean muscle as possible), then lose whatever fat there is. You can't try to lose all the fat and build muscle as the same time, they are diametrically opposed (one requiring calorie deficit, the other a surplus).

Thats your spleen. Seriously, as a young and foolish lad, I went through a period of eating nothing but those frozen green chile burritos. Well, after a couple of months, I couldn't understand why I was tired all the time.

I stepped on the scale and saw 150 lbs and scared myself to death. See, I'm 6'1", I hadn't weighed 150 lbs since 6th grade and played football through HS at 225 lbs. Silly me, I was vitamin deficient and forced myself to eat more and a greater variety of foods.

The moral of the story is at 6'1" and 140 lbs you're as out of shape as you would be at 300 lbs.

I gotta start running. I need to be able to 2.4k in 11 minutes or so. I have no sense of time/distance in this regard, so I have no idea if this is a lot or not. How should I...get started?

You gotta do at least 2 sets of 400 crunches and situps a day. And put some resistance and do another set of 400 crunches and situps.

... It's not like I'm starving myself, I eat breakfast lunch dinner and it's like I haven't gained any weight in 2-3 years.

bullshit

There's no such thing as 'toning' muscles. You lose fat and gain muscular mass.
