I've got the rest of this year off as holiday.

Not much more i can say really. But it feels good that i don't have to wake up in the morning, and think about any deadlines etc.

Total stress free period. Bliss.

21 days off. How good is that. 😎

damn,
I'm taking 4 days, but it works out nicely. Flying home next saturday, working from home that monday and than vacation till 26th. Woot!

I was under the impression that workers within Europe generally had an assload more holiday / vacation time than their counterparts within the US.

I don?t have anything planned. But, isn?t that the best way? I?ll wake up tomorrow and simply do what ever I like, I can?t wait.

I?ve recently relinquished this project I was working on (I'm a pm). This project was literally running me into the ground. Now, all of my responsibilities have been taken over by some other poor soul. Do I care, hells no!

I?m turning my phone off too, I want to forget about work for the next 21 days. Well, I wish I could turn off my phone, but the reality is, I?ll still be required to offer some form of support during my period of absence.

Still, I?m waking up when I ever I feel fit, and that might not be until mid afternoon 😛

I get 25 paid holidays. That's a little above standard over here i believe.

Does that count government holidays and what not? I thought 25 was a lot, but I get:

14 days of vacation
7 days of sick leave
8 days of holiday pay

That's 29 days off. Not too shabby, I suppose.

Over here, as far as i am aware, people only receive paid holidays. Some companies might offer none paid holidays, i'm not too sure on that though.

I get 25 paid holidays exclusive of any national holidays (bank holidays), i.e Christmas day, boxing day, Easter Monday, Good Friday etc etc.

I can?t remember how many sick days we get paid for, but it?s a reasonable amount.

Ah, that's not too bad then. I was confused at first, but that's because what we call vacation, you all call holidays.

It's good to get Mardi Gras off again, though.

So when you say "holiday" to most people in the US that means "vacation" and not a "holiday," am I right?

Even then, 25 days of vacation is quite a bit unless you've been working a long time. How old are you?

I have taken at least 4 weeks vacation so far this year, and I have at least another 5 weeks vacation remaining.

Ah, the joys of working for the German government 🙂

And I get only 25th and the 1st off....have to work every day (thats the disadvantage of owning a business 🙁 ) but on the bright side, I have flexible schedule according to my needs all year round and can take a day off (or maybe a week) anytime during the year...

many times (atleast once a week 😀), I just come in, check the bills, pay the bills, do some paperwork and leave for the day.... 😛

I'm getting confused now, lol 😛

Over here, we don't have vacations as well as holidays. Time off from work can only be taken in the form of a paid holiday, other than a sick day of course. This means we (or I) have the opportunity to book 25 days off during the year, we receive full pay for each of the days we book off as holiday.

We do not get any additional holidays, or vacation periods that we get to choose which days we have off. I'm 24 BTW, 25 in feb.

I used to get a lot of time off at the end of the year, but it doesn't work out with my current job. So, I will get the week between Christmas and New Year's, but that's about it.

In America:

Holiday: Fixed time off that must be taken that day. Examples are Christmas, Independance Day, Memorial Day, Veterans' Day, etc.
Vacation: Time that can be taken off at any time during the year, pending the approval of managment.

My company has merged Vacation and Sick time together into PTO (Paid Time Off). This time is completely seperate from our holiday time.

Ahh, I understand. So yeah, what i call a holiday, you guys call a vacation. 😀

So in comparison I have 25 days vacation, and perhaps not as many national holidays.

That's gotta rock. I get from the 22nd to the 2nd of Jan.

Ohh, it does. It's the longest period of time I?ve ever had off during work before. My paid vacation has basically accumulated over the year, where i just never took any. Now i get a large chunk of December off.

Now i've only got to work out what exactly i'm going to do. .. So far nothing planned, other than a dentist appointment tomorrow morning, lol.
