Just noticed this part.
Just makes my recommendation of Mucinex DM even stronger...
It's just decongestant and expectorant, no other cold medicine. I've used it for a constant congestion problem caused by allergies.

And I'd be wary of off-brands...
I bought a large quantity bottle from walgreens, cause they had a great price. They were 450mg instead of 600mg, or something like that. Plus they weren't long acting (4hr instead of 12 hr) But because of how great of a deal it was, I got it anyways...
And they pretty much suck.

I'd recommend purchasing the name brand mucinex dm the first time, so you can properly set your expectations. Then if you purchase store brands, you'll know if it's crap you should return

Then why does it say DM in the title? That's cough suppressant.
Looking it up, its DM and guaifenesin, so cough suppressant and expectorant. i.e. to loosen lung chunks and stop coughing.

OP: You want something with a decongestant, like pseudoephedrine. eg. sudafed.

I ended up with Aphrin and Sudafed PE. Sudafed works for about 2 hours the poops out on me. But the Aphrin is amazing, it worked all night. The only thing I don't like on the aphrin is the warning that "Don't use for more then 3 days or your nose will explode with mucus!"

Either way, it worked for the night. I'll try and avoid using it however as the warning freaks me out a bit. Hopefully since it has been a couple of days since I started feeling sick, I'm on the road to recovery.

Sudafed the real stuff

LOL Irony. Sudafed is literally Pseudo-Ephedrine. The real stuff ain't in it. Also nasal decongestants have the opposite effect overall and really worsen the problem. Avoid them at all costs.

You want Robitussin DM (Dextromethorphan), with expectorant.

How does Robitussin DM help with stuffy/running nose? 😕

MUcinex DM is not a nasal decongestant.
So many wanna be doctors on ATOT giving poor medical advice, but then again that's not a surprise.
