Specifically I've seen people post about the Lakers and Mariners being bandwagon teams, in their own towns! What is up with that? What's wrong with showing your hometeam some support when they're doing really well? I know, I know, in their poorer times these teams could barely draw half of a full house. Are the people who show up to games --when their team is doing very poorly-- true fans? Perhaps. Are the people who only come to games when their hometeam is doing really well, are they "bandwagoners" ? No! It's their hometeam and they are allowed to show their support when they want! I for one, would rarely pay money to root for a crappy team. To me, it almost seems like a waste. And if I had to decide between watching a crappy Mariners team or watch Brady Bunch reruns, I'd probably decide on fantasizing about Marsha.
My point...It's one thing if you DO NOT live in one of these cities and all of a sudden decide Kobe Bryant is GOD and the lakers suddenly become your favorite team for the remainder of the playoffs. BUT, if you live in one of these cities, ofcourse you want your team to perform well ALWAYS. But in reality if they suck you're more than allowed to spend your time doing other things. And when they start to perform well, hometowners can enjoy it, brag about it b/c it might not happen very often.
