I've got 10k to spend on a new car ...

... currently driving a 2003 Mercedes I just gone done paying off. I'll probably keep it, low miles, girls and family like it, its been a great car. I want something new though so I don't drive this thing into the ground.

I was thinking about the new Chrystler 300, great performance and they're a real treat to drive. I definitely want something sportlike and FAST. If you had 10k to put towards any car you want what would you get? (within the 10 to 30k range).

Just lookin for idea's!
 
If I had 10k to put toward a car, I would spend a maximum of 8k on the car and horde the rest for repairs. No way would I be thinking above 10k if all I had was 10k.

Has Chrysler's reliability improved any in the last couple years?
 
Cars are depreciating assets, so no reason not to drive that thing into the ground. I'd probably save the money for repairs or towards a new new, not a new to me car in the future.
 
Just speaking from my own experience with Dodge/Chrysler.. Stay FARRRRR FARRRR AWAY. They make cars that are really unreliable.
 
That price range is exactly the same range for the car I ultimately want to get: Subaru WRX STI (or if brand new, the "regular" WRX - terrific car, a little barren in terms of comforts/amenities, but a beast in terms of performance and handling at that price range.

I demand AWD for my next vehicle, plus it's just a fun car.
The Lancer EVO is the only Mitsu vehicle I'd ever own, and I'd enjoy the hell out of it too. Going to be awhile, can't get much for this damn Dakota and just had to sink more money into her. Cannot possibly afford a loan right now, and I have other priorities in mind before a major vehicle purchase.

Chrysler is about the only American car I'd get. All the ones I've had have been virtually flawless.
 
You can probably get a decent used car for 10k. Like something that's only been driven for a couple years with under 100k km.

I have never seen a new car for under 10k. Maybe like 15k, but 10 is on the low side.
 
If I had 10k that I had to use towards a car, I'd wait for the '13 Fusion.

Right now the lowest you can go (at least in the US) for a brand-new car is $10,990 for the Nissan Versa base model. I imagine that you might be able to get it for under $10K if you can work the dealer over a little.

The current Fusion is really good (so I've heard), and the new Fusion looks like it's basically the European market's Mondeo(?)... looks like it might be a winner.
 
My ex had a Chrystler 300. That thing was the biggest piece of shit ever. The fit and finish is just awful and it had a never ending, growing list of problems. Driving it at night also sucked; the dashboard lights were SO BRIGHT that you had a hard time seeing outside the car, especially in reverse.

What are the requirements for your next car? You said you want something sporty and fast... So umm... Do you need 4 doors? Do you even need 4 seats? And what do you consider fast? Just want something in a straight line, or do you want something that's fast through the turns?

I have the exact opposite opinion. The water pump in my car blew out and it's built INSIDE the engine to save space. It's basically more cost effective to replace the whole engine. This happened just before 70,000 miles on the car. Yeah, FUCK chrysler.
 
Well the thing is I rented a 2011 Chrystler 200 and it's absolutely *AMAZING* compared to say, an '08 seabring or pretty much anything else they've released. I hated Chrystler for a long time but very recently their motor's are strong as hell which has gotten me interested. Take a test drive in their new stuff with a v6 or better, you'll be surprised.

Four doors would be nice, but being that I already have a four door it's not mandatory. I've never fell in love with a 2 door though, short of the old Shelby Cobra's which I won't be buying. Don't want a 10k car, already have something close to that right now. No Suburu for me either, I just can't rationalize spending around 20k on a rice rocket looking thing with a V4 ... definitely not for me. I want something around 20k so I can at least have a few good years of payments and more payoff's on my credit.

I like a sport/luxury mix. For instance I bought a 2008 nissan maxima in 07 because it had 300 horse, hauld ass and came with stock 18's. My mom took over the payments last year and she loves it so it was an easy choice. Looking for something that offers the same, but I might stay away from European cars this time around which cuts my choice's dramatically considering my taste.
 
You should keep driving the one you have. It's a nice looking car. You just paid it off. Enjoy a nice ride without a payment!

If you must, though, what are your requirements? For instance, must it be a luxury brand? Sedan? AWD? 300 HP? Certain electronics?

I just bought a 2011 Outback, but my requirements included ground clearance, AWD, and good snow characteristics.
 
Why would you buy another car so similar to the Benz?? Get a small sportscar. Or save your money. A 2003 Mercedes isn't worth blowing 30k on not running into the ground
