Shipping cost can be a mental thing. As a seller on Ebay for 8 years, I see it all the time. Many people would rather buy an item for 20.00 plus 5.00 shipping rather than for 5.00
plus 10.00 shipping. They just hate the fact that shipping may be inflated. You'll get emails, " How dare you inflate shipping cost!"
"Yeah I paid more for it totally, but I got cheap shipping!" Dummies

lol yeah i know what you mean. i saw a guy post a ram auction for $1 buy it now (probably worth $35~$50 then) and charged the rest in shipping...he went on in the description to say that the buy it now price doesn't matter, it's the total price you have to pay attention to, because people kept buying from "power sellers" who would charge like $20 instead of him just because the price sans shipping on the other auctions was cheaper.

it avoids ebay fees, which are based on the purchase amount, not the shipping amount(?)

Excuse me, what Audiophile forums? Most forums have years of archives, links please.

All I saw was a thread where one person said they beat high-end cans that cost 5-7 times more, and gave no detailed review or reference to support that. I would like to see side by side comparisons by a bunch of 'audiophiles'. When someone claims to beat 140$ Grado's, he better be providing something more then that one statement.

They do have large magnets, and that probably does result in above average sound quality, but I also read reports that this is highly inconsistant from unit to unit.

Example, the current headphone of choice for low price is the KOSS KSC75 (same driver as 50, 55, 35), for $20 shipped.
Audiophile forums and reviews all tend to agree that its the best for the money and portability (consensus), and rates at approximately ~6 sound quality scale of 1 to 10, above average and beating many larger more expensive producs.

The lack of similar comperisons or even mentions for the Labtec headphones makes me very suspecious of these claims.

By the way -- I hate listening to your music in the library and while I'm waiting in between classes. So turn down your music. Try taking off your headphones and cupping your hands over the ear pieces and hold them away from you. Hear the music? So does everyone else.

Just a little flame for the fire ;).

Amart: I'm not going to do the searching. I just know they were well discussed 2 years ago. I HAVE the KSC75s, and the Elite 840s are better... not as much bass, but nothing some bass-boost can't fix.

As for inconsistency: after just 10 minutes of break-in, they already sounded pretty dang close to the ones I just replaced.

they compare pretty well to my ksc75's, plus these are a lot easier for the computer (more comfortable, MUCH longer cord...)
