Doc, I have this sudden urge to vomit, everytime I hear the word "Abit", or the fact that someone is actually going to buy one of these POS's. :|

What are they good for?
1. Fizzbee
2. Highest RMA return rate, second only to PC Chips.
3. More DOA right out of the box.
4. Any of the pretested CPU's I sell, when I get a call or email, stating:
My CPU does not clock to what you said it would....I immediately ask, what kind of a board did you plug it into? The answer is almost always an Abit! :|

It's almost enough to make a guy want to get out of the hardware business and crawl under a rock..............almost, but at least there are some sensible customers out there who buy MSI and Asus. ;)

I just went through FIVE Abit BF6's :| in the past ten months.

Never ever ever ever ever ever will I buy another POS Abit board again

The first BF6 that died I sent for an RMA in march 2000,did not recieve another board back until oct,2000

All the others I didn't even bother to RMA

My KA7 (KX133 - Slot Athlon) works very nice ... although I don't spend too much time on that computer.

The KT7-RAID (KT133 - Socket Athlon) was a pain in the a$$. I had serious stability problems with both Highpoint and standard controllers. The instant that I changed it for an ASUS A7V, everything worked great. Didn't even need a format. Worked straight out of the old installation of Win2k/WinME.

Umm..Maybe you just had a bad experience or something. But Abit mainboards are some of the best available, so it does not mean they are crap cause of your experience. YOU KNOW NOTHING!

viper007, that statement makes you a d*ck. I happen to be in the computer business. I sell hardware to clients. This is not a single user experience.....go j*ck off somewhere else, you zealot!! :|

DOES THE FACT THAT 9 BOARDS OUT OF 100 THAT CAME IN GIVE YOU A CLUE, DORK!!!!???[calling each other "geeks' here would be purely meaningless]
You must be one of the delusional customers that is so blinded by the futzpa that companies throw at them, that they can't see a good motherboard from a bad one.
Please get a life, clueless Dip!

BTW, you are far from qualified to tell me, I know nothing. :Q

I think the quality of the Abit boards are like a wave. First they were bad, then they were good, now it's back to bad.

viper007: He is not the only one having problems ... I have seen a lot of people of people from these and other forums having problems with Abit boards, especially the K7T. And I've talked with my local parts supplier, and he also has a lot of problems with Abit boards, mostly DOA out-of-the-box, and some with compatibility problems with every darn hardware around (he has over 13 HDs models in stock, only 2 of them work ok with the K7V ... the other 11 are IBMs, Quantums and Maxtors)

My problem was between an IBM 75GX and a K7T. Some people say that this setup works fine for them, but I've seen a lot people having misterious problems. Exchanging motherboards fixes the problems ...
