I've been traveling for over a month now... make it stop

What type of Helpdesk was it? Was it in the IT field? How did you escalate tickets?

Hospital/office/research environment. It was based at a hospital and we supported mostly hospital/research environment workers. Escalating tickets would be like, "Hey, I can't do this. You do it." (Mostly for stuff I didn't have authorization to do) And my supervisor would do it. And if he couldn't fix the problem then maybe it was an issue with the server/product and they'd called the support services for that product/server.

That was basically the process. It was a small team. Supported hundreds to thousands but just a few people doing it.

Hm... Well I would recommend the Edward Jones Helpdesk as a starter as you can often times interact with the senior engineers and teams supporting the product/network etc. There might be others but they promote from within.

They have headquarters in Tempe, Arizona and Saint Louis, Missouri. They have programming and helpdesk positions open up all the time. Highly recommended.

Tempe has fake dancing, bro.

I knew several people that turned heldesk jobs into programming careers. Try looking at universities (for work not school). You'll have lots of networking opportunity and can brush up on your skills/learn more. Maybe take some night classes for other things that could boost your resume. And you could start your own "Trident dancing" program and even be an instructor for it which will look good on your resume too.

Hell why the fuck aren't you doing programming projects of your own to show your talent? Make some stupid apps or websites or whatever and cite them. If you can't do the GUI design there's a shitload of people that could help with that and it would be a good networking opportunity, plus it could help bolster both of your resumes.

Why not try to make a group or project on here? I've thought it'd be kinda cool to try and do something like that, maybe a game or something, where people could contribute whatever they felt like.

i already do this in my free time for side money and to learn as well so that i just broaden my horizon. hell i'm working on a multiplayer game right now and i only wish i had more time to work on it.

if i didn't have a 9-5 job that would be my fulltime gig while searching for a 9-5.

trident is simply clueless. he could be making money on his own right now if he just learned how to do mobile development and just had an idea. and you don't need to have a crazy huge idea, you can just have something that makes a hundred or two a month and it is still something.

I saw solitaire advertised like it was the hot new thing.

Well guys, just wait till he actually has a job. Thread title will be.
"I've been employed for over a month, please make it stop."
Followed by constant complaining about having to do tasks outside of his skill set.
