What started off to be my usual allergies about 2-3 weeks ago turned out to be a horrible cold that I just can't kick. It seems to get really bad for 3-4 days, then subside partially for about 2, then full blast again, over and over.

Already did a round of Antibiotics but it doesn't seem to have helped (though they are still effective for about 3 days so we'll see).

One of my neighbors said she had something similar a few weeks ago, a cold she just couldn't kick.

Anyone else get this nasty one?

what did the doctor say?

Other than prescribe the antibiotics he said just wait it out.

well don't die

also it sounds like he just prescribed some antibiotics to shut you up.

I know your an idiot, but is there a need to be an ass as well? I don't think he would prescribe the antibiotics just to shut me up, he said my lungs sounded kinda bad and thought it would be a good catchall incase it was something else.

check for pnemonia - i had something similar (but with cough) and doc said I was in very early stages of "pre-pnemonia"

Actually yes. Back in Sep. when I was leaving my old job and moving back home to go to school. I got something wicked that felt like a cold, then a week later it was flu-like, then the next week it was feverish. I would wake up 4 times a night covered in ice-cold sweat. Couldnt keep food down. Was hot, tired, and irritated all day.

I didnt have health insurance so nobody wanted to see me.
Went to the emergency room and they did nothing, charged me 700 bucks for it too. The next week I finally got into a regular doctors office. He didnt look at me or take blood or pay that close attention to my description of the symptoms. Gave me some sort of liquid placebo and told me to go home.

Ended up getting on the plane feeling like total shit. Soon as I got back my mother reffered me to a local family doctor. He sized me up in about 5 minutes, gave me some antibiotics and I was fine the next morning.

Oregon doctors suck balls. It took me 3 years to figure that out the hard way. Virginians seems to be a little better so far. After living here 4 years I'll be able to give a more detailed opinion.

Did he prescribe mucinex? I had something similar and I had issues until I took mucinex to break up all the congestion in my lungs

I've had a good year thus far. Only had a slight cold (runny nose, some 'bulging' in the head) in September or October. Haven't had a single outbreak since, and people in my office are dropping like flies right now. No flu shot either.
