i made a home network between my laptop and my sister's PC with a linksys router sharing one internet connection

Before all this, my laptop has been clean and functioning with no problems.

her computer had popups, possibly trojans, viruses, etc.

Whenever I open IE, (homepage set to google.com), I get a popups, I think some spyware got on my computer and I can't get rid of it.
I ran spyaware S&D, adaware, updated norton virus on my sister's computer and found subseven virus, and other worms.

I ran adaware on mine, spyaware, but not norton antivirus..... you guys think there's a chance my laptop could be infected too?

also, when I try playing multiplayer games online.... my ping is way too high. It stays around 200... before this home network, I consistently got a ping less than 100. Are there ports open on my sister's or my computer that keeps the network slow? I don't notice any difference when I visit websites, but when I try playing games, it's unbearable. I'm on a T1 too.

Try dissabling messenger in services, it will help on most of the pop-ups.

Also, run MSCONFIG and make sure there isnt anything strange in the starup group. I've noticed that adaware and spybot dont touch the startup group, and many viruses/trojans restore themselves from there

well the popups I'm talking about are actual ads... with pictures, color, text in a window.

Head over to Trend and run the free housecall online virus scanner on both machines. Also, you may want to install ZoneAlarm on both machines too.

EDIT: Better link to Housecall

don't listen to him, zonealarm blows. Especially since I'm sure his linksys router is a firewall already. what I would do is install "Ethereal" and monitor your network to see where all the traffic is coming from. If you're now getting a high ping, then it's because either you or her have someone on the computer using the bandwidth.

Best solution would be to reformat both :)
