Itune's updater pushing Safari upon us

With Apple's recent release of Safari for Windows they have begun an aggressive campaign for it. This include having the itunes updater periodically pop up offering to install Safari, despite the user's lack of interest. The only way to stop these popups is to disable automatic updates for itunes or to uninstall the program.

I just got my third popup, in the middle of a movie no less. Itunes wasn't even running. Due to this I have decided to uninstall itunes completely. I would hate to have one of these popups interfere with a game, surely they would minimize the game or at least cause momentary lag.

Perhaps I'm taking it a little too far, but I see these popups as spam, nothing more.

So, for the moment, I'm looking for a nice Itunes replacement for windows. I've got an ipod too, so it has to be able to sync that too. Any suggestions?

Am I the only one annoyed by these popups?

Uninstall the program. You really don't need the program to update iTunes or Quicktime. You can always say no. I think that it is bad that Apple is doing it but you can always say no.

Use a startup control program to disable the updater, that way you can still use it when you want to check but it doesn't popup in the middle of whatever you're doing.

Apple, the new Sony? What's next rootkits.

Yes, this pissed me off. The wife wasn't paying enough attention, and clicked OK. 4 hours later I finially got her computer straightened out after prying safari out of her system and repair the damage it caused, as it completely FUBARed ZoneAlarm
