iTunes tiered pricing is now Live! (In short, it sucks)

Amazon will be switching soon too, don't get cozy. Apple was the only one standing up to the RIAA, now that they've folded there's no one left to stop them.

This is the sad truth.

RIAA doesn't like digital downloads regardless of whether they're legal or not. I think they're doing this in a vain attempt to boost CD sales since new releases would essentially cost the same as a hard copy. It's a ripoff but we know from past experience the government isn't on the side of consumers when it comes to the entertainment industry. [sarcasm]Of course I'm sure none of that has to do with the huge donations Hollywood Democrats gave to the Obama campaign.[sarcasm\] Not much can be done about it.

iTunes Plus songs haven't been $1.29 in ages. It was very quickly realized how stupid that plan was.

And again, Amazon will be matching Apple's prices the next time their contracts are up for negotiation. "Go somewhere else" isn't an option.

Really? I always thought regular songs were 99 cents and iTunes Plus songs were $1.29. No heartbreak for me, I guess 😀

This sucks. One of iTunes' advantages over Amazon was that the UI for iTunes made it easier to discover, locate, listen to, and buy new music. But $1.29/song is too steep, IMO. Time to start thinking about mp3sparks.com again?

Actually, my issue with mp3sparks.com is that they're not taking visa/mc direct anymore. They want you to go through third party payment sites cmpass.com or allpay.cc. I've never heard of these, and therefore don't trust them. Anyone here used these as of yet, and have anything good or bad to say about them?
