iTunes is acting up

Anytime I have iTunes open it seems to slow down my entire system. When look at the task manager and its only taking up 14,000k mem, and barely any CPU. Also this happens if iTunes is both playing and not playing music. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sweet jesus thats a lot for something thats supposed to be so simple.
Get rid of iTunes. Its a horrible program that also somehow manages to be popular.

It doesnt look like you visit here very often (good for you) but we occasionaly have a thread that discusses some good alternatives to itunes. There are quite a few though I cant think of any right now. You may have to search around on the forums a bit.

Coming from someone who's used Winamp, WMP9/10/11, foobar2000, RealAudio, Quicktime, MPC, etc, I can safely say that if you have an iPod, there's no better way to integrate it with your music library than with iTunes. If you don't, then Winamp might be a better choice...

EDIT: WTF iTunes is using 40MB of memory in Vista.... ummm... :Q Whatever, that's what you get for being on the bleeding edge. Besides, with 2GB of ram it's neglible.

I have an iPod. It was free; I would have probably bought an iRiver if I were shelling out money for a player. Ephpod works flawlessly for me.

What if every program & app was written with this mindset? It only seems negligible because the other programs you use are written conscientiously. Apple software writers seem to have the mentality that if you use anything else on your PC while using their software, you are wrong. The big apple is far more important anyway, sheesh :roll: Lucky for them, most of their customers baaagree :laugh: Then there's the continuously running processes iTunes installs which aren't even necessary nor a part of the program. And QT with its file association hijacking, yikes. Just thinking about it has got me wanting to run virus and spyware scans.

Edit: ps - those other running processes are using additional memory, how much is it altogether?

Yes, qt player knows to screw firefox file handling if you don't watch carefully

qt player - only player in the world where you have to pay to use full screen mode
