I'm building a new computer and i want to transfer my itunes library, complete with album artwork, lyrics, etc. How do I do that? Do I go to library and go to consolidate library, or back up to disk?

Consolidate will simply take a library that is currently spread across multiple locations and consolidate it into whatever is currently set as the iTunes folder.

Back up to disk might work, but will take a lot of disks.

Here is what I do (also, will this new system be running OS X or Windows? I have only used this method on OS X) I backup my entire iTunes folder.

I install the new OS
I install, update and then launch iTunes and then quit iTunes
I copy the old iTunes folder to where the new one is, and tell it to replace all.
I launch iTunes.

That works for me.

The computer I'm using right now has XP, and the one I'm building has Vista.

Can I consolidate it, make sure everything is in the folder and then copy the folder onto a DVD-R?

I don't see why that method won't work. Backing it up to a hard drive will be easier and faster, but if you want to use DVDs, crazy go nuts.

Honestly I am not sure. I don't put lyrics into my songs, and I am on OS X. Not sure if there will be a difference, but it is safe to at least preface with the theory that there will be.
