Isn't Activesync the same way?

No (not that ActiveSync is all that great anyways).

I don't think so, I did it with a client's computer about 6 months ago with a fresh copy of iTunes.

Uh.. it's two way synch for me. If I make a playlist on my ipod it gets synched and not erased. Same for song reviews.

Oh god, you have to reload the songs again. That's just about the end of the world.

Wait, do they eat the kangaroos after they themselves have copulated, or the kangaroos?

i wondered if someone would ask that...

both

Wait, wait. So do I have a furry-style orgy with a woman and the kangaroos, or do the kangaroos do the Discovery Channel dance on their own? 'Cuz I might be down for some marsupial-style lovin' if it must go down that way.

WTH cares what the default is? If you read the manual and exercise a single brain cell it won't matter if the default is "blow up your iPod, steal your car and kick your dog", you'd still know how to prevent it. A default setting can only screw with the stupid and the hasty.

I think his point is that Apple's niche is people who don't/won't/can't rtfm. Anyway, strange seeing you make this argument werk, that kangaroo lovin' get to your head? :p

Yes actually you certainly can plug your ipod into another person's computer. All you have to do is have your ipod set to "manual edit" playlists. If this choice is checked, nothing will happen unless i choose to transfer or delete music.

This was not the problem, i had manual set on both ipods. The problem was that the computer somehow retained the information from one ipod and transferred it all to another, even after the original ipod had been disconnected.
