iTunes and Vista 64 don't mix?

Finally I got around to install itunes 64 to organize my iPod touch. I installed the itunes 64. At the end of installation, it crashed and stopped responding. I launch the iTunes and when I plug in my iPod it says to uninstall the current version and install itunes 64. Wth?

Are you sure you downloaded the 64 bit installer? When I went to their website to check it out, I had to move the radio button to the 64 bit download. Even if you're sure you got the right version, I'd download it again and try installing the new download.

I've been running 64 bit Vista and iTunes since June and haven't had an issue.

I googled for about one hour and I found a solution. You must exit xfire before installing. It works good now. Not that many people use xfire and iTunes on 64-bit vista.

Yeah, that would be it. Now for the million dollar question: Why is Xfire causing the driver installation routine in iTunes to fail.😕
