iTunes and AIM - newer versions make my computer eat itself

Has anyone had any problems with a HP media center desktop running XP (or any computer running XP) clashing with the newest versions of iTunes or AIM? When I try to upgrade either to the newest versions, the computer doesn't make it past start-up before it freezes and eats itself. Help?

~Noob.

You might want to try doing a full uninstall before upgrading either program. You'll want to backup your itunes library file along with anything else you want to save (chat logs, etc.). Honestly, I would suggest ditching the official AIM client and moving to something like pidgin, miranda, or trillian. I've never had anything but bad experiences with AOL software.

Good luck.

Yep, put the AIM down and walk away, nobody gets hurt.

aim alternative

its aim, without the aim software bloat.
and is your xp fully up to date with all patches?
anyways sounds like something is wrong with the o/s itself if its so unstable that a program install can kill it. bad as aim is, it doesn't kill xp during bootup.
