itunes alternative for ipods

I heard there was something out that could do this before but now that winamp can do this plus all of its other features, i'm hopping back on the band wagon.

I don't have an ipod yet, but when I get one I want to use Anapod. I've read a lot about it, and it seems great. This winamp plug-in is def better than iTunes, but Anapod seems great.

There's a plugin for foobar as well, though I can't imagine there being many foobar-using ipod owners...

I'm using Ephpod with mine and it's great. It has all the features I need. It can copy the songs to your hard drive too.

I'm really hoping that audible files won't be stubbern and will go onto the ipod nicely without having to use itunes. that would suck

Wow. I wasn't aware that there were so many iPod handling progs I thought apple always got pissed off and sued anybody who reverse engineered their protocols and formats and stuff.

I'm happy enough with iTunes on windows but I'm curious: how stable are these alternatives and do any of them run on linux?

ephpod seems to run on linux, kamper. check their website.
