iTunes 7

Anyone else having some problems with the new iTunes? Ever since I installed it, i've noticed that simple things like web browsing and dragging windows around the screen will cause audio hiccups and static noises to erupt from iTunes. Winamp doesn't have the same problem, so I know it's the iTunes, and not my audio drivers or something. Any ideas? Besides switching programs/ downgrading?

Yes, I have the same problem. So far I haven't found any solution, apart from downgrading to iTunes 6.0.5.

Under the Audio tab in QuickTime preferences, have you tried selecting Safe Mode?

This seems to be a fairly common problem for iTunes 7 users. I have had good success with iTunes 7 on my work laptop.

No, that didn't solve the problem (for me at least).

Trying download multiPlugin for iTunes and enabling foobar2000 passthrough? I don't know if a multiplugin is already out for iTunes 7...

Edit: I checked. The beta version of mPlugin for iTunes 7 is having problems with the passthrough. I'm just downgrading to 6, 6 was pretty awesome.

iTunes 7 is __terrible__ on my integrated VIA audio. The sound is distorted at best and there are many periods of "static" and "pops". It sounds like someone moved all of the EQ sliders to their max limit and then turned down the volume. Overdriven but not loud. This is very dissapointing because I like the new iTunes 7 GUI and I was looking forward to some of the new features and browsing the new areas of the store. But for now I am waiting for 7.0.1 before I do anything more with iTunes 7.

On the other hand, iTunes 6.0.5 works great. Sound quality is as good as Winamp. So the problem has something to do with iTunes 7, not my drivers or my OS (WinXP).

I'm still using iTunes 6.0.4 on my MacBookPro, I'm too scared to update to iTunes 7, even though it's a totally different platform.

Skips here too. I've temporarily moved over to Windows Media Player (!)

Does anyone here know of a decent Linux equivalent to iTunes?

doh
i'm about to install it. the album covers thing seems neat, but will it work if i dont' let it organize(mess up) my folders?

It works fine if you don't let it organize. I'm picky about my folders, so I don't let iTunes touch it.

The album cover thing is really neat.

heh yea letting it run through it now, taking a while but i don't mind. nothing was more annoying than hunting album art by hand or even semi automated by idletunes or whatever. good job to apple for adding this feature

Just out of curiosity, am I the only one for whom the itunes 7 desktop icon is wrong? It has like a microsoft picture viewer icon instead of the itunes cd thing. I've installed it on two seperate computers and both have the wrong icon.

i think some nub made this new itunes 7 lol. i hate it and can't go back to itunes 6, hope it gets fixed soon and i hope someone makes a post titles "new fixed working itunes 7"

i tried to uninstall 7 and install 6 but get some library error...

i'll just wait for a patch. no point messing it up further trying to downgrade. streaming shared music to another pc stutters now. both had to use 7, can't share between versions it seems

Uninstall iTunes 7.

Go into My Documents>My Music>iTunes>Previous iTunes Libraries

In there there's a copy of your 6.x library. Make a copy, rename it as iTunes Library and put it in the iTunes dir, overwriting the 7 library.

Install iTunes 6.x and enjoy again.

Only problem I seem to have with Itunes 7 is that it asks me if I want to update my ipod to 1.2...than when I ask it to install it...it comes out with an error.

Hmm, Apple always seems to have issues with Rev.A of anything, suspected this would happen which is why I downloaded the installer but waited for bug reports. I'll be waiting until 7.0.1 or even .2 first, if at all.
