Movies - 640 x 480 px movies you can purchase for download from the iTunes store. Currently, only Disney-affiliated movies (Disney, Pixar, Miramax, Touchstone) are offered, but Jobs promised more to come.

Cover Flow - lets you navigate through album art to mimic flipping through a CD collection.

Free Album Art - automatically fetching of album art for CDs you import (with iTunes account).

iPod Games - $4.99 in the iTunes store.

iPod Summary - at-a-glance information, including storage allocation.

TV Show Resolution - TV shows will now be sold at 640x480 px h264. While the updated 5G iPods announced today will be able to play the new format, there has not been any indication from Apple of yet that the new shows will be playable on older 5G iPods. Apple's official knowledge-base article still states that h264-encoded movies must be 320 x 240 at 30 fps.

Gapless playback is the feature other players have had since the dawn of time. Jobs and his sheep are likely lauding this as a brand new idea and proof of Apple's limitless innovation  It allows you to hear albums as they were meant to be heard. The most ubiquitous example is Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, but most albums are produced with gapless playback assumed on the end user's part since most CD players have it.

The trance genre in particular makes use of it. Sadly, many (legally) downloaded trance mixes are ripped as one long mp3 instead of individual, taggable, managable tracks, because it's known that most listeners use itunes since they don't know any better, and won't experience it as the artist intended (though I'm not sure what artist wants their music fogged and distorted by itunes' horrible playbaack engine). While adding gapless playback will surely change this, I'm sure Apple's bloat/mal/ad-ware will continue to adversely affect ditigal music as it always has.

the best way to hear this is on a live album. with gapless instead of there being a pause/break between each song it flows just like at a concert, or how the cd would sound. this is a good thing. :) if there is a break on the cd, there should be one in your itunes music as well.

whole interface got a refresh...looks a lot nicer.

the complaints? everytime you delete a shortcut itunes makes, it'll run windows installer and put back all the shortcuts you deleted. i HATE that.

Granted, it's been a while since I've used Foobar or Winamp, but did they allow you set gapless playback by album? For instance, in iTunes, I can set Frampton Comes Alive for gapless playback, but not others. It's my choice.

You should be able to figure out how itunes does album art, then get the cover from amazon.com in 300x300 size or so.

Honestly don't know, I've never seen a need for non-gapless playback so I've never looked into it

So is the new 80GB iPod video considered 6th Gen now? Is there any difference other than the increased HDD size?

For the love...

It's STILL not here (that I know of)

Does ANYONE know of how I can make iTunes just monitor my My Music folder so that whenever I add new music to that folder outside of iTunes, it will recognize it and automatically add it to my Library??!?! I mean windows media player has had this feature forever....why the crap can't apple do it?!

increased battery life for one, and I think they're smaller?

DONT INSTALL IT!!! lol, just go check out the apple forums. apparently if you have any applications that make noise whilst you are playing your itunes, it will really screw up the playback. for instance, i listen to itunes whilst i waste away my life playing WoW. well, if any sfx occur within WoW, itunes immediately gets static-sounding and speeds up (kinda sounds like alvin & the chipmunks). it's horrible. i've never had any problems with itunes before and i've been using it since 4.1

that being said, i really like the new layout and gapless playback (finally)
