I like ensim - dixiesys used to use plesk, but phased that out. Ensim works quite well, has many features. You're able to install your own ssl certs, set up email, aliases, majordomo, squirrelmail is pre-installed.

Hostway's Site control is great, and it for this reason that I continue to use Hostway. I would be willing to switch my customers to Dixie to save them $$, but if it's going to be a pain to administer the site, then I'm not going to do it. I have a new site in the pipe and will have it hosted with Dixie to get a feel for it. If I like, then I will switch the others over. I have one site that uses .ASP pages, I don't see Windows 2000 hosting @ Dixie. Guess that one will have to stay with Hostway.

I also wish I got a cut. Gary Harris (owner of Dixiesys.com and AT member) offers a great product at a great price, that's why we're so fanatical about recommending people to him.

compudog - $13.95/mo is a lot for personal homepage hosting BUT if you wanna have some fun I have some great ideas for you:
1) Pay $3.95/mo less and get a Dixiesys.com resellers account and if you order before midnight tomorrow you can receive 2 accounts for the price of 1 or double the storage space and bandwidth for free. I would choose the latter of the two.
2) Or this is where it gets REALLY fun, if you can afford $1.05/mo more you could get a reseller account with another webhosting company (I can give you some suggestions later if you're interested). This is only $15/mo.

Why on earth would you want a Reseller account and what exactly is a reseller account?

I'm new to reselling since I just got my account yesterday but here's what it is:
1) You have a main account, let's call it CompudogHosting.com (this domain is available BTW).
2) You are paying just $15/mo to resell webspace and bandwidth to anyone you want (you can even give it away for free to friends & family or just use it yourself) for whatever price you want. Let's say $15/mo gets you 1,000MB of website space and 10GB/mo bandwidth (traffic), you get unlimited e-mail accounts, unlimited FTP accounts, etc.
3) What's appealing about a resellers account is you'll usually receive a WHM and control panel where you have the power to create, delete and modify existing accounts. So with your mail resellers account you could host your own website compudog.com plus your family's website, have a hobby website (kite flying or whatever) AND you could also sell 5 accounts for $5/mo which means you're earning $25/mo but the website space is only $15/mo so you're MAKING $10/mo ... of course you're also responsible for tech support, invoicing and billing your clients as well ... assuming you sign up with a reliable established webhosting company you'll experience very few outages which means less work for you.

I'm starting to sound like Tony Robbins now. But really a resllers account is AWESOME.

Right now I own myhostingcompany.com for $30/mo
underneath that I have
our personal website
our personal auction/trader website
RossWorx.com (after it expires from Dixiesys.com I'll move it to my own hosting co)
a Hot Deals website (in the works)
another website (in the works)

and I still have enough webspace and bandwidth left over to sell accounts to people.

Just call me CEO RossMAN :D

I love using WHM & cPanel 5.3, there's a lot more control but of course to my newbie eyes this could be dangerous.

RossMAN, I know about reselling as my partner has a reseller account with Hostway. The $13.95/mo accounts are for local small businesses that I did the pages for. Typically they can afford the $$ (some more than others.) It's the 'others' that I would (or may) move to Dixie. I am glad to see Dixie is another ATer!

Site #1 Local Catering Company
Site #2 Professional Engineering and Water Treatment firm
Site #3 Local Dog Kennel and Breeder
Site #4 Mystery Shopper services firm
Site #5 My primary source of income. Regional Blown Film Manufacturer
Site #6 Southern California Lifestyle and Surf Scene Magazine

They are all basic, simple sites designed primarily with MS FrontPage. I don't have the time to go overboard and they don't pay enought for my services for me to do more than I do. (Less than 4 hours per site per month.)

Dixie may be the answer to some of the other people that have approached me about web sites. I may even go for the reseller account with my partner. Thanks again RossMAN -!-!-!

Hey RossMAN, the control panel for Dixiesys, Ensim? do you have a screen-shot of that? I looked at all of the ones from your other thread (HERE)
but didn't see one for the Ensim control panel. Thanks. I was to the Ensim site, but before I switch hosts, I want to be sure.

How are the email servers at Dixiesys. I am currently using Powweb, but the email servers are down once again and I am ready to move to another service.

Edit: Noticed DixieSys is now $9.99 a month and isn't offering budget webhosting anymore.

compudog - Sorry I'm on server 14 which is Plesk, don't have Ensim :( Maybe someone else can help you out, there's a lot of Dixiesys customers here.

AU Tiger - You snooze, you lose. I think Gary (Dixiesys.com) said yesterday was going to be the last budget hosting 2 for 1 sale, maybe he meant it. link

I've never had any mail issues at all, all incoming and outgoing mail reaches it's destination and is prompt.

Thanks. I checked it out and will be hosting at least one with Dixie to start and I may move some others as well.
