My wife's birthday was at the end of June.
The only person in her family who called was her mother.
The rest of her family called her mother and bitched cause my wife didnt call them.
When my wife did call them they tried to make her feel guilty about not calling them?

So on your birthday are you supposed to call everyone or should they call you.

Why should I have to make calls on my birthday? Bitches can either call me or eat balls.

Your wife's family with the exception of her mom is a bunch of retards. People call you on your b-day, not the other way around.

Huh?

I expect both my parents and my boyfriend to separately call me and wish me a happy birthday... if they didn't call (assuming I didn't see any of them in person), I'd be annoyed.

I'm more forgiving when it comes to my friends/sibling/cousins and have no problem if they just shoot me an email/text/whatever or even say nothing.

Bingo. You sit back and receive the adulation on your b-day.

When people get mad at me for missing their birthday I get pissed. WHO cares. It's a birthday. It's a man-made made up thing. How about I show I care with my emotions, which are REAL.

Just pisses me off.

if people call me, great. if not, then who gives a swollen rats colon. if no one calls me tomorrow for my birthday, then so be it. its not like i keep a checklist of who should call me and who gets a pass. i dont care about that stuff.

your wife's family are jackasses.
people are supposed to go out of their way to wish you a happy birthday. you dont go around calling everyone saying, "hi its my birthday, dont you have something to say to me?"
thats lame.

if these people are mad she didnt call them on HER birthday, i can only assume they do not call or speak to her on a more regular basis and if that is the case, screw em. tell the wife shes done nothing wrong and to ignore that petty BS

Personally, I feel like neither should call. It seems like such a silly tradition. But if someone is going to call, it shouldn't be the person whose birthday it is.

This has got to be one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. You don't call other people on your birthday. They call you.

I don't "expect" anyone to call on my birthday, since I'm older than 12 and its just a day. Once you're too old for cool toys at your family's expense, whats the point of celebrating the fact that you're one year closer to death?

That you haven't died already, of course.

Any thinking to the contrary is madness.

OK...when you put it like that, it makes sense.

Make a list of everyone who bitched to your wife's mother, and make a note of their birthday. On each of their birthday's, make a point of calling them at 11:58 and bitching them out for not calling you.

Actually more of a woman-made thing, haha. My dad says we should celebrate my mom on mine/my sister's birthday, after all she was the one that did all the work, we just popped out :p
