It's Woot-off tonight

[*]ctrl+c/v from their FAQ:

I see some Purple flashing lights on the main page - what do they mean?
No, Barney's secret police are not raiding Woot, this is a new beta test mode called "Woot-Off." Woot-Off mode is a short term frenzied mutation of our product posting procedure. During this mode, a new product is launched immediately* after the sellout of the previous deal. There is a half-woot-life of 12 hours maximum on any product within a Woot-Off that does not sell out. The Number of Woot-Off items, sequence, and quantity will not be announced. When Woot-Off mode is over, the purple lights will disappear and our normal schedule will resume. Depending on its success, this may be a mode we would go into once or twice a month for a relatively short duration of time (24-72 hours generally.)

Yes, I have been waiting patiently after each one goes out, to find something that sparks my interest, nothing yet.

Why dont they just throw down and get decent servers . . . .

Or at least find someplace to host them that has most of their peak traffic durring the day and can lend them some bandwith/clock cycles durring the night hours.

This is really annoying.

Aye, the Woot servers are in very bad shape during these events. It seems to die with BoC's Mystery speakers and Woot-Off's

seriously... except for that remote control car with the camera and that rockford mp3 thing
too bad that car is pretty sweet, but way to steep a price for a toy

I bought the MS wireless sets off Woot last time they have them. Gave them to my sisters with the PC's i built them. They were a good deal for a good set of stuff.

And just to spice up the thread. The best keyboard/mouse manufacturers are . . . in my opinion. (In order of goodness)

1) Microsoft
2) Logitech
3) Other companies exist that make said products ?

they dont care. they just want to make a quick buck from excess inventories. if the servers die, let them die, its not like they cant sell their items since people will buy anything they throw out there. if the servers cant handle the traffic that day, then its a hot item and 100% of the time it will sell out

No way I could justify that MP3 player when I could get the Ipod shuffle or an Ipod mini for just a bit more.

Apple Rules 🙂
