hey guys, i think its about time to upgrade my system, but with all the new hardware out im kind of confused, im used to just getting the latest and greatest nForce board, but i guess now there are amd made chipsets and such.. (i havent really been keeping up to date with mobos)...

im looking for the newer generation and i cant really seem to figure out whats the best
im assuming that 790GX is the latest n greatest, how does it compare to the latest nforce (nforce even worth it anymore nowadaze)?

im planning on getting a phenom x4 9950 or a x2 6400 cpu (or better) with 4 gigs of ram

1. What YOUR PC will be used for: all around, mostly gaming, music listening/encoding, watching movies, school etc. on windows vista 64bit

2. What YOUR budget is: around 350

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from: USA, preferably newegg or such

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. AMD, and a strong motherboard manufacture such as asus

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts: audigy zs2, gforce 8800gts 312mb, sata 2 hard drives

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking: not a main necessity, maybe a little here and there.

8. WHEN do you plan to build it: next few weeks

my pats few builds have all been asus mobo/amd processors with corsair ram and ive been really satisfied with them.

ive been looking at these boards, but im not sure which has the best value etc.
i can care less for onboard graphics, daul pci-e slots and such.

amd 64bit 4800+ x2 (939)
nvidia geforce 8800gts 312mb
2 gig of corsair xms 3200 ram
creative audigy 2zs

any suggestions?
thanks!

You'll get more responses if you answer the questions in the sticky at the top of the board regarding what you're planning to use the computer for, brand preferences, whether you're overclocking or not, etc.

I'd also recommend the 'attention system builders' sticky as a resource.

Hey cool he settled on the Intel chip, despite listing AMD preference. There's brains.

OP: Your selection look very good.
