It's time to ask a serious question about a close election.

Seriously, if the margin of victory for one candidate is only 2 states, and those states are very close, will either candidate contest the election in the courts?

Specifically, McCain is 72 and this is clearly his last chance. He has wanted to be President for many, many years. His campaign has repeatedly charged the Democrats with election crimes. What are the chances that an old man, seeing his lifelong dream die, will grasp at any chance for victory?
We have already seen the grasping McCain who has compromised every one of his principals in this quest for power. Could he just let it go without trying to get the election into the Supreme Courts hands?

For Obama, he is young and a 76 year old McCain would not look unbeatable in 4 years, so he could just decide to wait.

It's not going to be that close. Kerry didn't contest the 2004 election, despite the fact that Ohio got Bush elected and it was a very close state. Acting like a tool when you lose is NOT a good way to start off a Presidency, even if you win, you lose. It only really made sense in 2000 when the election was SO close that both sides could reasonably claim to be the victor. This election won't be anywhere NEAR that close.

Techs asks a question that is unknowable, so I will answer, I do not know. But my guess is that it will not be close, Obama will win big, but all kinds of GOP wingnuts will still still cry fraud and acorn for a very long time.

Obama's margin of victory will be well more than 2 states. His victory will be so overwhelming that recounts in close states won't change the outcome.

My take is Obama will win by 10% across the board. Don't know if that's big or not, but that's my guess.

Agreed. There's just no room for dissent in a country like America.

No room for conspiracy theories, plenty of room for reasonable dissent.

It would have to be one state that would change the outcome if it flipped and then it would have to be close enough that the outcome could be over turned some how.

Florida fit both of those needs, doubt anything in 2008 fits either.

Although it is possible with a McCain victory since it would most likely be a very small victory and there might be multiple states that would be very close.

I will ask you once again, Dave, why should those of us who have fought for and served our country leave just because we disagree with your ideology? I will also ask, once again, what service you have given to your country that makes you feel you have the right to expatriate us. I await your answer.

Foolish question-weren't you alive in 2000? One state, two states, what is the difference? Of course it will be fought to the bitter end.

If this country was actually functional the election would be stopped before election day and the mess cleaned up. This election is massively corrupt. ACORN has thousands of bogus voters in many states. People on BO's own campaign have been busted. We had Democrats like Schumer and Reid intentionally circulating rumors to cause economic panic to spark the crisis and now we have the voter fraud and a mystery candidate on top of it. This IS the first banana republic election in US history and the Democrat brought it. Good people cant vote for them knowing what they have done. I'm not sure the Republicans can even fight anymore because the RINO's have gutted party

Why don't we wait a few days and find out? Making predictions at this point is pretty pointless. Most people I know are just sick of the whole thing. Unless something huge happens in the next week and a half, nothing's really going to change.

This statement, out of context, is the only thing that I agree with in this complete piece of drivel.

It is possible to find truth in a Buggerbean post, but it's like looking for a tiny gold nugget in a steaming pile of elephant byproduct.

Still confident in my 300+ electoral vote win.
What world are you living in?
A world where the streets are paved with gold, the rivers run wild with chocolate, white and black, and the trees all have candy canes hanging from the branches. Days are carefree, spent running in fields of flowers and go for rides on gigantic butterflies that carry us through wonderous valleys and over great mountains. This land exists within his imagination, but it is indeed the one in which he lives.

Listen man, I'm a conservative too. But this is just ridiculous. Seriously BB, you give Republicans a bad name with 9 out of every 10 of your posts.

Schumer and Reid couldn't get laid in a cathouse with a fistful of hundreds, let alone spark an economic crisis with their stupidity. This economy was well on its way to falling into the shitter when we thought it normal for housing to appreciate 20% annually and for an unregulated credit derivatives market to become as large as the global GDP.

McCain is losing because he's an imperfect candidate, hasn't effectively made the case the way he should have, and bottom line has run a piss poor campaign. It's just that simple. Even I don't fully trust the guy given some of his past positions and votes. I'm not voting for Obama but I'm certainly not thrilled to be voting for McCain either. And I'm not alone.

He's living in a world where ACORN, who have not had any charges filed against them, are guilty of the worst election fraud in the history of everything, even though the only charges filed for election fraud so far this year have been against Republican voter registrars.

My guess that there will be that no lawsuits will be filed except for standard lawsuits such as having polling places open an hour latter because lines are big etc.

Agreed! 4 years active duty here along with 3 years of National Guard service. My guess is that many of those who call us "un-American" have served no active military service at all.
