I got this guys computer here and sometimes the hardrive is detected on post. I knew it was either the HD or the PSU. I installed speedfan and the readings are:
12v 12.85
5v 4.85
3.3v 3.39

The computer is a 1.2 Ghz Athlon with sd-100 ram, and the PSU looks really generic. Im pretty much positive its the PSU, just confirming.

Oh and the hardive is a fujitsu.

It could be the motherboard or the hard drive failing, too. An Athlon board that's old enough to use PC100... heh, sounds like my K7S5A that indeed began having hard-drive-controller problems and finally died overnight.

Still, if it's a generic PSU that's as old as that, it might be a good time to replace it with a good-quality one.
