I buy an item on Ebay and the shipping was $5 for priority. The package FINALLY came and on the box was a shipping tag of $3.80 for parcel post.

I emailed him for a refund of my $1.20 too. :D

**UPDATE**

SUCCESS!

Now I think I will go out and treat myself to a Charleston Chew with my new found money.

Yeah, if you pay for something, you should get it. Good luck getting the money back.

heh, I can see that. It's not even the difference in cost, it's that you paid to have it sent priority, and it was sent parcel.

At least that's what I think the point of this post was....right?

don't forget about the cost of the envelope/box/whatever.

i have noticed on Ebay that people are charging ridiculous prices for shipping lately.
like $10 shipping for a CD! it only costs like $3 max.

He was talking about how you can edit your first post, not your second one.

Yes, I know that but you can't delete posts so rather than edit my first and leave a blank 2nd post, I just let the comment stay but removed the accidental quoting of myself.

exorbitant shipping is no stranger on ebay. you agree to those terms (handling) and i don't see a big deal with it. if the item cost $5, and they say they want $10 for s/h, fine. it's up to you if you want to bid on it or not. but if the seller says Priority, and he went with Parcel, then yeah i'd argue about that...

Well, here's the thing. We've been through this like a million times. You paid for a 2-3 day priority mail, the ass hat uses parcel or media mail which takes 1 to 2 weeks. OP complains about how it's not the cost but the length it took for the package to get here. Well, guess what, the reason why the package took so long to get to you is not because the ass hat seller used the "wrong" shipping service, but solely on the fact that he used the cheapest service so he can pocket the different and call the different "handling" fee.

You think that's bad? I had ordered memory from coast-coast memory who are located in NJ. Mind you I am in PA and they charged me $6.95 for shipping. When I got it the sticker read $0.86 (something like that - it was under a dollar). Ticked off I called and the guy said that's their shipping/handling fee. Never again!

I agree with the points you make for certain situations, but OP's post is about how the seller lied about the shipping. Even if the shipping was $10 but he used Priority, I don't think the OP would have made this thread.

Handling fees to me, would be setting the shipping price $10 when actual shipping costs were $5, but still shipped the correct method.

Clearly shipping the wrong, cheaper method is more than your typical "handling" fee, it's lying, stealing (in a sense), and not getting what you paid for.

Heh you should see the shipping for Alaska. (it's never as expensive as every retailer thinks).

Tiger Direct just LOVES gouging Alaskans. a 19" LCD screen, shipped 2nd day air, is between $33 and $41 from every other site I've been to. At Tiger, it's $96!!

Another seller on ebay advised me that since I live in Alaska, it would be an additional $27.18 to ship 1GB of RAM to me.

Yet another expressed disbelief when I told him that you CAN mail a letter to Alaska on a 37 cent stamp, and that priority flat rate is the same price here as to your neighbor's house. He insisted I was wrong and wanted to charge me 25.00 instead of the $3.85 it really costs.

Im more pissed about the time it took to get here than the difference in price. Had it been $3.80 but it WAS shipped priority, I would be just fine with that considering the cost of box, etc. I waited a week and a half for something that should have been here in 3 or so days, that is what really fried me.

It took over 10 days to get from Indiana to the Chicago land area. Granted there was a heavy snow but still that is just insane. Parcel post....ugh.

Well, it depends on the shipping carrier. By far, USPS is the least expensive, with FedEx GROUND coming in second.

What you may not realize is the vast majority of stores in the lower 48 ship via UPS and FedEx, and THEY don't realize that UPS and FedEx both now do ground service up here...

It's just one of the many "benefits" of living in Alaska. I should know. :)

I would be upset to, worthy of a neutral feedback if he does not offer a refund.

$1.20 is not much money, but that's not the point. The seller should ship the way he states in his auction. If not, he's breaking his own auction's terms.

It's the holidays, postal services are slow.

On top of that it's $1.20, consider it a handling fee.

Cool! Another Alaskan! Whereabouts?

Yeah, I know those shipping options exist but I just hate how many places overcharge us because the "Alaska is more expensive to ship to" sounds like a good excuse even when it's the same price. I think little by little it'll die out but currently it's maddening.

Seller said he would ship Priority. Buyer paid for Priority. Seller shipped Parcel.

It's pretty black and white here. Seller broke the terms of his own auction.
