I have noticed some ant hills when mowing yesterday, what do you recommend for dealing with them and to keep them out of the house?

Nothing. Most aren't interested in the house. If you get some that are, put bait inside the house to poison them and the colony.

I wouldn't do anything to ants outside. Only if you get ants inside the home is when I would act. Maybe some bait stations etc in the home if that time comes.

Go buy your local DIY Pest Control shop, get a $10 sprayer and some Transport (can be pricey ($80 for 24 packets)). Follow the directions ...no more bugs.

I use the bait packs. cheap and they work really well. let the ants bring the poison to their hill.

Leave a circle of Jolly Rancher candies in a perimeter 25 feet around your entire house. The ants will have absolutely no desire to come towards the house when there's delicious candy elsewhere.

If you know where they usually show up then get some poison packets down now, trying to deal with the problem once it is full blown is so much harder than a preemptive strike.
