Whoa :Q ... in View 1, I see that old reel-to-reel tape deck. What kind is it? Revox or ??? Off topic, I know, but just curious.

Looks like an AKAI. 😉
Could be. :light: I was just a little kid when I had my first (and only) reel-to-reel deck, and I never really saw enough of them to be able to recognize brands/models. Right after I posted that last night, I thought to myself, "Nah, that's not a Revox," but I couldn't think of many other brands OTTOMH. It didn't look like a Tandberg or Realistic; could definitely be an AKAI.

Corkyg: Do you still use that thing or is it just a conversation piece? 😀

EDIT: Ooops ... I was looking at that picture on my CRT last night and couldn't make out the AKAI logo on the upper right corner of the deck. I'm looking at it on an LCD right now, and now the logo is a lot sharper and actually readable. Sorry for the seemingly-dumb question. 😱

Oh, yeah - I forgot about that. got that in about 1977-78 in Japan. It is an Akai Quadraphonic - I have used it to convert my whole tape library to CDR with MP3s. Get about 8 albums on a CDR. Right below it is a cassette deck, and I can connect a turntable when necessary for ol 33 and 45 disks. 🙂

I keep it there because I still have a few pre-recorded quad tapes to do - the effect ancestor of 5.1 sound. Yeah - I had discreet surround sound (4-channel) back in the late 70s, early 80s.

Very 😎. I love old analog equipment -- not only because I prefer the sound in many instances, but for the nostalgic value. I miss the good old days of analog audio. It was fun to be an audiophile back then.

And wow ... you were a quad guy. :Q I've never actually heard it; just read about it. Did you like it or find it gimmicky? What kind of music do you have in quad?

You should save those quad tapes even after you dub them to CDRs. They could be worth something someday (if they're not already). 🙂

(Alright, guys, off topic I know, but don't hammer me. I won't drag this out too long. 😀 )

My awesome computer

Sometimes it will just shut down. No fears, just turn my nozone unsafe duster upside down and give those Fuhjyyu caps a few squirts of dextrofluoromethane chill to minus 50f and whew! On and good as new.
