Hi all, back in 2010 in June with all your help i built this my self:

Case: Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower,
CPU: Intel Core i7-860 Lynnfield 2.8GHz,
MoBo: ASUS P7P55D-E LX LGA 1156 Intel P55 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0,
GFX: MSI R6850 Cyclone PE/OC Radeon HD 6850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5,
RAM: Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 16GB 1600 (PC3 12800),
CPU HS: Noctua NH-U12P SE2 120mm SSO CPU Cooler,
PSU: SeaSonic M12II 620 Bronze 620W ATX12V V2.3,
Studio-HDD: WD Black 1.5TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s,
Data-HDD: WD Caviar Black 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5",
OS-HDD: WD Green 320GB IntelliPower 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s,
ODD: Sony Optiarc CD/DVD Burner AD-7261S-0B LightScribe,
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.

Then i dragged long and complicated, was worried much about all kinds of things
but then found out some of them were not really important, one of them the noise
and stuff, of course i do not want it to sound like an airplane but nothing surgical.

And its that time of the year again, i wanna build new machine, this one works and
i am still using it, maybe will continue to use it with the new one or dismantle it
and use of of the stuff above in the new one, i guess the HDDs will be the only thing.

I do Audio and some Video Editing but mainly heavy Audio processing. My main question
is, is there anything out there that will actually give me performance worth the money
i will spend now or it will not be much more then this? Where do i start?
Graphics Card is important too, i wanna use it in CUDA where the GC becomes a processing
power for Audio too. GC, CPU and MOBO i can spare 13-1500$ plus the rest of the stuff.

Let me start somewhere and see where we get. Of course i would love advices on all components.
Keep in mind, my Audio Disk Drive will run on Win 7 x64 and it can not be without a FW connection,
i will still use my old Card that i have in this computer that i am using now a TI 1394.

1. Music Production, heavy RAM and CPU tasks.
2. Around 2200$USD, exluding Monitors, OS and anything external.
3. Most likely Newgg, USA.
4. N/A
5. ASUS, WD, NOCTUA, SEASONIC, INTEL.
6. No, my older system stays as it is.
7. I will overclock only thru some of the Programs the MOBO
comes with like Turbo Boost...unless i get knowledge to do it in BIOS.
8. I have 2 Acers at 1920x1080 but will most likely add a larger 4k Monitor.
9. Next few weeks.
10. I will be using my existing copies of Windows 7 x64 Pro.

Thanks
Nedim

Did this thread get lost in the shuffle? OP, can you fill out the questions in the sticky, and post them here in your thread? Propose some parts for a build too, something in the range of what you want.

For memory I would start looking on the motherboard recommend memory from manufacturer. The x99 motherboards use quad channel memory.

Thanks MadDog. Even if i use some of the parts the rest of it will go garbage, its a good
build, i can still use it so i decided to keep it, i know it will be useful.
As for the RAM, i do not know much about it. I want something midhigh end, as i said i am
comfortable with RipJaws but have to find out which ones.

Thanks

Why spend $435 on a 1TB SSD?
Use a SSD for the OS, not storage/files. Get a regular spindle HDD for storage, you can get a 4TB now for 100-$125.
I'd use the saved $$$ on a better graphics card than the $240 GTX 960 (2GB, 128-bit, 1024 CUDA cores). Perhaps a GTX 980 (4GB, 256-bit, 2048 CUDA cores) for $499.99?

Hey Scorpio, actually the SSD will be probably the most crucial thing about this build.
I till be used for Audio Production where GFX is of no importance actually.
Te most crucial in this build is the RAM and the SSD. I think i can save a little on the
GFX and also on the Cooler...but not final yet, will be purchasing next few days.

Yes, i just updated it, i am still waiting to find a little more about the coolers
and will order, the only thing i am stuck with now is the cooling system.
I don't want something huge overhanging but i also want something that will
not let my CPU melt...money is not really an issue.

Thanks

Just FYI, you can remove that upper HDD cage and get better airflow from that top front case fan... (unless you need the cage, of course.)

Nice rig!

I know APP OC sucks

Yes, it does. I wouldn't use it, myself, but that's based on my experiences with Z68 boards and the old OC software.
