This will not be fun. Although my car did make it home Tuesday night, when I went to start it yesterday it was dead. I had to get it jumped and taken into the shop for repairs (alternator / battery.) Thankfully I got it back in working condition today so I will be able to make it to work tomorrow.

I've always liked the snow. Hate shoveling though, especially when its the heavy wet kind.

Suppose to start snowing here in a few hours... predicted to get 4-12 inches... bring it on!

We're supposed to get 9+ inches by late tomorrow... we're right in the heavy band, north of Grand Rapids, South of Muskegon.

Bah. Snow n00bs...you make me sick.

If you live in the snow belt:

If you own a house/land/property: Buy a snowblower...the self-propelled kind.
If you live there but must drive daily: Buy a 4-wheel drive vehicle.

Please stop whining that your car was buried, your driveway was covered, your little ankle-biting mutt couldn't get 2 feet past the front door, etc.

If you live where massive amounts of snow come down, you ADJUST and CONQUER. That's why we're the dominant species on the planet.

If you can't wrap your head around the fact that 3 feet of snow falls once a a week during winter where you live, then save your pennies and move to the deep south.

But please stop whining.

Ugh yeah, I have to go to my 2nd job at 8. By the time I get off at 2 I might not be able to get home.

Central/Southern IL got slammed with an ice storm last night/today.

We got really lucky though. It's bad, but it could have been a lot worse. Luckily temps are staying above freezing so it's not a solid sheet of ice and the wind isn't blowing completely pwning the powerlines.

Roads still had about 3" of icey packed sludge over most of them this morning.

Lots of trees are in pretty bad shape. My neighbor has a huge pine tree in his back yard and I can see lots of branches snapped in half from the weight of the ice. Again, we are lucky that the wind isn't howling at 40MPH like it was last weekend.

great... I am going to die aren't I...

It's going to be shitty. Really shitty. We had a couple inches of ice come down. Some more light snow over the next day or two, and then we get down to like 5 degrees F through next Wednesday or so. North of us up by Chicago and higher got 8+ inches of snow.

All that moisture with near zero temps should make for some wonderful black ice on the roads.
