I've logged 1.5 yrs./840 work units on Anand/Seti. Suddenly I find my main computer, on 24/7, is frozen in the a.m. with disappearance of Seti icon from taskbar and has not processed overnight. Have inactivated screen saver, never turn off HD and turn monitor off at night. This happened after I reformatted the hard drive because of some software problems. Just discovered problem again at 1am after 3 hours of inactivity.

When I hit control/alt/delete I find "Msgsrv32(not responding)." is highlighted in Close Program and computer works when I close it.
Any suggestion?

Norton AntiVirus is scheduled to scan the HD every friday at 8pm. No backup utility present. Just discovered problem at 1am and revised original post.

well if you are running win98se msgsrv32 is not part of its basic installation, try runnning msconfig and unsellect it from startup, reboot your computer and leave it running over night and see what happens, if if doesnt hang, then prob solved

Wye Tookay,
I had something similar to that. I reformatted my newphews computer, replaced the mobo, and reinstalled Win98. When I was install the modem and sound card, the computer would lock up. If I only install one or the other, worked fine. I asked about it, and found that in my rush to get it finished, I forgot to load the software that came with the mobo. Turns out, the mobo I had had a problem with IRQ. The conflict was it was trying to use the same and I keep getting a mmsystem(not responding). Search your mobo and find the software for it. Maybe bios updates, IRQ patches, ect, any software.

"msgsvr" is not in Startup, nor in Close Program. It appears in Close Program only when computer freezes. No IRQ conflicts or other software problem. Happened again last night.
