I'm thinking scrooge might be a more apt description, but yeah, something is wrong there...

Just trying to elevate the conversation.

We see unemployable americans who have no job prospects and are almost destitute using the very last of their money to give even more to china?

We see other Americans step in and send the money to china for them?

You think this is a rosy picture?

Sure. Don't like thinking about that do you?

Nope, just happy I'm not such a cynical piece of shit like you, and can enjoy a story of people doing good things for people without my sad world view clouding it.

heard about this on NPR on the way home this morning. Not that I care about christmas much but it is nice, especially for those with young kids.

You've completely missed the point of the story.

I personally don't care much about it either and I don't have kids, but working with kids every day as I do... I enjoy seeing how happy and excited they get about Christmas.

This mans jobs were shipped over seas and he is crying about getting cheap chinese plastic crap for his kids?

No. I find nothing warm about this story.

You're such a complete moron it's absolutely amazing. You just don't get it: for a parent, the smile on their child's face is priceless. The realities of the economy, jobs, outsourcing and all that stuff won't go away, but I assure you those people will remember that small act of kindness forever.

That selfless act of giving to someone else without expecting anything in return is exactly what Christmas is about, though it seems to have gotten lost in the commercial messages.......

Paying off the layaway toys is actually very clever. People with money rarely use layaway, they use credit cards. By paying off toys for small kids that parents have been saving up for over the weeks/months is a good way to make sure you're really helping someone out.

The vast majority of people who do this kind of stuff are not the 1%'ers, they are average people who have enough to be able to do something nice for someone.

I do have to agree. The 1% wouldn't be caught dead (in most cases) in a K-Mart.

Actually dude I'm amazed you actually wrote more then just 1 sentence blaming obama.

But aside from that I dont think you are in any position to call people morons. :colbert:

I normally give randomly to a few charities throughout the year and some extra around Christmas. I like this idea, on my way home I'm going to stop at a walmart to see if they'll let me pay off a couple of layaway bills for people buying toys for younger kids.

Thanks OP

In typical selfish Liberal fashion, every story has to be about them. It's not that some very poor people were able to get Christmas presents for their kids, or that a woman wanted her late husband to be remembered fondly. It's all about the lefty -wing nut politics, everything must be about them and they must take their usual faux-intellectual stance.

They are employable if they were to work at wages that make them competitive.
