A couple inches? Even the local schools in my area weren't called off with over half a foot.

Maybe not couple inches. Inch or two. But that's a lot here. They usually close school at the threat of snow or ice here. Now we have snow, kids are going to have long weekend off. Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun, and Mon for MLK. :)

I went to college at Northwestern so I know how it's up in the North.

I went to work at the University here after 16 inches of snow =p

But I lived in VA for a while, and if we got 4 inches I would of been at home for 2 days or so =D

Well how do they get rid of it? Do they bring a fleet of plows down, or just wait for it to melt? Some cities up here, even smaller ones, put over a million dollars into their winter budget to take care dealing with storms.

I live in North Mississippi. We havn't had snow on the ground in six years. When we do get snow they just wait for it to melt. A inch of snow shuts down everything.

They do put gravel (yes rocks) on the bridges. Then you get a busted car windshield from the rocks.

A couple of inches of snow in the part of northern Kahleeforneeya where I live...and they'd close the state.

Sure, the folks in the mountains get copious amounts of snow, but not in the rest of the state. I've lived here for over 20 years and the most snow I've seen (other than a deliberate drive up to the snow) is some flakes in the air that didn't stick...Everyone was OOOOH-ing and AAAAHHH-ing...

I'm up in the mountains (gold mining town ;) ) and we have just over 2 inches. Stuck to the roads and everything else. Haven't seen snow like this here in many years. Last time was back in the mid 90's. Classes are canceled tomorrow but probably be on again Friday :(

It's a heavy wet snow as well, packs really good.

I wish I had somewhere to go as I enjoy driving in the snow. Perhaps tomorrow I'll go around.

Some businesses will be closed. Most will open. I'm the owner so I decide if I want to work or not. ;) I'm staying home to play in the snow with my daughter. It's her first real snow so she's excited. I promised I help her make a snowman. :)

I bet you classes will be closed on Friday as well due to freezing ice on the roads. Enjoy your 5 day mini break. :)

I love Dahlonega, GA. I drive up there every chance I get. Gorgeous area and lot of twisty mountain roads up there. Nothing better than going for nice drive up there early Sunday morning like 7am on a motorcycle or sports car when there's no traffic. It's like the mini Tail of the Dragon.

Good plan. Well, as long as your business isn't a hardware store selling the only shovels in town. :p
