I spent all night making country fried steak, but lost my recipe for the gravy, so tried to make it from memory. Well, after nearly two hours on the stove, the gravy still would not thicken--that's when I remembered that I forgot the flour. Note: adding flour at this point won't work too well; it looked and smelled edible enough, but I didn't have the nerves at the time to taste it. Well with no roommates around to test it on, I'm afraid I'm force to eat steak without gravy.
