Silver was the closest of any of the major national poll aggregator

if you want to rag on someone, rag on Ryan Grim for this epic fail
Ok, ok maybe we were a little too hard on ole' Nate - he was after all using rigged polling data like I said all along. But remember, he originally gave Trump a 5% chance to win the primary as well so not letting him off the hook so easy. His excuse was that Trump doesn't adhere to normal polling models.

And BTW - How money was the LA Times poll that Nate disparaged? They were one of the only ones calling for a Trump lead nationally.

common fallacy

they would have gone through bankruptcy and come out a leaner, more competitive company

just look at the airline industry, many major lines have gone through bankruptcy, some multiple times. It is by no means a death-sentence for a company, in fact quite the opposite as it allows them to shed debt and burdensome union contracts

the bailout was solely a gift to the unions

The treasury was the only available DIP lender for the chap 11 bankruptcy they went through, without whom they would've chap7'ed. There's no coming back from chap 7 for those industries.

Just a heads up this is something I'm familiar with in some depth.

I've said this to all my democrat friends. Don't ever put a person like Hillary into the race again, ever. A dynasty has been is just not the way to go, and I'm not even going to address her failures and ethics here.
Agree, like I said all along I was way more scared of the Bern than Hillary and was ecstatic when she won. Bernie was polling in enthusiasm on par with Trump and was beating him in every head to head poll. Would he have done as well in a GE? Maybe not since minorities weren't buying into his message as much, but you would have to think he'd do better than Hillary just did.

Every future Democrat candidate will be just like Hillary by the time each election arrives. Character assassination is the only card the GOP has to play. Sad that it got to the point that most people no longer viewed her as innocent until proven guilty but rather as guilty no matter what evidence is presented.

When I first found out that WikiLeaks had her emails I expected her to be DONE. We always hear about how corrupt ALL politicians are so I expected some real dirt to be uncovered. Nothing. Absolutely nothing awful was ever found. I couldn't believe it. Yet the general population is still under the illusion that massive corruption was uncovered.

And I can pretty much guarantee that none of your democrat friends were huge Hillary fans before or during this election. The party crippled itself.

then you would know they were never going to chapter 7

Who else was going to lend them the money at the time? Be specific.

And let's be frank here, your previous post demonstrates you don't know much about what even happened. So ponder some about where you see this headed, I'll give benefit of the doubt you'll find some success at that.

You aren't being too harsh on Silver, he's a fraud. He messes with his data using google consumer analytics. The other pollsters he uses got it wrong too, in a big way, so his numbers were all over the board. Most polls showed Trump losing by a margin of 2-7% leading up to Nov 8.

There were only a few that got it right. One of them happens to have gotten it right the last 3 elections as well, but Silver blew it off. Silver got Sanders and Trump wrong in the primaries, and then he missed the election by a mile. For someone who makes a living doing polls, that's complete abject failure.

Here's a place that got it right for the last 3 elections in a row, now 4 if including this election. Silver ignored and ranked them lower than other pollsters, even though they had the best track record.

Appears that Hispanic surge did not happen.
If it did, they were not interested in Hillary.
Republican women did not switch to Hillary.
Blacks we not interested in supporting a white woman.
Democrats did not have that magic momentum with a woman as they had with a black man.
Appears that way, unless...
The Russians did manage hack the machines handing this election to Trump?

In hindsight, it would be easy to say, "well, it should have been Bernie Sanders".
But that would not have mattered.
Bernie would have been turned into a commie socialist by the republican machine if it had been bernie.
Bernie would have lost as well.

Now we enter the stage where Trump supporters expect huge massive payoff.
Jobs, a wall, deportations, repeal of Obamacare, and every liberal decision by the US Supreme Court during the last 40 years to be revisited then reversed.
As mad and sad as democrats must be, Trump supporters are next in line for a major letdown. Because they have once again foolishly voted against their own best interest, and what security and grasp of hope they currently had under Obama is about to all go away.
But hey.... thats life.
Live, learn, suffer, repeat.

Grats to Trump and his supporters. It is what is and I never would have expected this especially in light of:

Americans so discontented with "the establishment" and "politics as usual" voted nearly all of their establishment incumbents back in...

I believe the Hispanic surge did happen, which is probably partially why the polls on Nevada and Colorado were actually accurate, and why Arizona was actually kinda close. It just wasn't enough. Hispanics aren't everywhere (yet).

It's bizarre.

She wasn't "done" because the bought-out media put a blackout on all wikileaks, despite wikileaks even publishing google DKIM keys for the emails (i.e. verifying their authenticity). In the end, the people were not duped, however and I think wikileaks played a huge role in dethroning the clinton dynasty.

/thumbsup, didn't know that about the IBD/TIPP poll. Kudos to them and I still have to give some credit to the LA Times which was also close (but sometimes exaggerated vs IBD).

Trump is a celebrity.
Reagan was a celebrity.
Maybe they have some delusion thinking Trump could be another Reagan?

I feel sorry for Trump supporters and what little is left of the middle class.
Just as Jesus uttered on the cross, "They Know Not What They Do".
But they will find out... Oh yeah. Big Time. ;)

I can't believe the voter turn out this election. Given our population the numbers are dismal which mean that Democrats are super lazy to have not turned out in greater numbers. Perhaps my greatest beef is that organized religion backed an adulterer when they should've not backed anyone. I'm all for taking their tax exempt status away from them and classifying them as PAC's.

I think it's amazing that Florida had 2 million more vote than California. Shows how the electoral college really distorts things.

It's the lazy Democrats fault...

It's organized religions fault ...

Despite Trump possibly sucking, it can't be any worse than obama's last 8 years of stagnant wages. Yes, more jobs were created but who cares when they are shitty and inflation is outpacing wages. Also obamacare which has to go. The people were sick and tired of the DC corruption machine and it's time to drain the swamp.

The world just became a much darker, scarier place. There are no jokes to be made. Ultimately everyone gets what they deserve.

You are speaking the truth my friend. I can never understand the support behind Bernie Sanders. He is evil. Well I'm glad i've seen things with my own eyes.

Bernie Sanders says "Socialist" but the countries he speaks of are a flavor of capitalism. The terms economists define are different than the how the public uses them.

have you considered that maybe the problem is your policies?

have you considered that maybe consistently dumping on and ridiculing and marginalizing religion isn't helping?

you should try to be more inclusive and welcoming to ALL Americans
