If you had to quickly summarize your collection,

How many games bought from STEAM sales do you have that you haven't touched yet?

It's happened to me too. I bought Bioshock 2 from Bestbuy for $10 only to find out I already had it on Steam. Purchased it during one of the sales and never installed it. 😳

Hundreds, and that's a bad topic summary. I've bought dozens I already own.

Next step: how many times you buy the same game. 3, 4, 5?

I've bought a few that I already own.

On the other hand, I'd say almost half the games I have bought on Steam I have never played. Like 40 or 50 of them. I tend to play only a few games at a time.

At least I'm making some headway since I recently trebled the size of my Steam drive. At least I installed a few of them...

right now, if you buy the game as a gift you can either trade it or give it to yourself. there are a few people using steam trading to get rid of extra copies. you cant trade played games ......yet.

the EU rulling on DL games not being licenses will eventually force valve, gmg, origin etc to allow you to trade 'played' games directly to others. so even if you installed and played a game you will be able to sell it to another person.

so at least in europe multiple copies wont be a problem. since operating 2 version of steam (one for licensees and one or 'owners') isnt worth the international lawsuits the US users will likely get the same resale rights.

I probably have 2 or 3 that I've never played. But maybe 20 or more that I've only played for less than 1 hour. I feel there are games that I would probably really enjoy if I had the patience to put some time in and learn the mechanics, but I'm too lazy.

That would be a bad law.

I think it's fine to make DL game not tradeable as used and doubt it'll come to US.

about 5-6 indie games i never got around to. All the big titles I install, play, then uninstall when i'm done unless it has good replay value.

All I can say is I'm damn glad that it now stops you from trying to buy stuff you already own (except in certain circumstances). It's saved me from buying stuff twice a LOT. The only thing I got burned on that I can see in my library is Civ IV. I have entries for every component twice, which means I paid for the whole taco twice as separate items... once as a bundle, and once individually.

I have to be damn careful on GamersGate when I buy my Paradox games, because it isn't as easy to tell if you already own something. I also have to be careful if I want a Paradox game on Steam for whatever reason that I don't already have the darn thing on GG.

I have Mount & Blade twice for that reason, due to bundling and DLC issues.

I did this with Age of Empires. Went to the store page to buy it, only to see "You already own this game."

Thank god they don't let you buy it twice.

35%

At least Steam tells you that you already own X game.

For music on the other hand, UGH! Great 2 useless copies of a junk CD. LOL

I got the THQ collection which included about a dozen titles already in my possession. Was worth it for the convenience, and the fact it was dirt cheap. I got about 600 dollars worth of crap for pocket change.

I've got two entries for the Civ IV stuff, too. AFAIK this has nothing to do with buying the game twice; it's just listing the Mac version as well as the PC version.

Confirmed. I have that as well.
