right on. 2.8 owns! btw, has anyone ever tried the Geiss vis plugins?
http://www.geisswerks.com try milkdrop at 1280x960 and tell me it isn't the most beautiful thing you've ever seen to music.

winamp's playlists are more than adequate for me. For video? I still wouldn't touch WMP unless I absolutely had to. I use BSplayer for that.

WMP 9 is a bloated piece of shite! If you had a slower PC, you'd notice how long it takes to load. And what's with all those graphics taking up valuable screen space..

but i use winamp 2.81!! 🙂
WMP6.4 for allround purposes, for certain high resolution asf/wmv media wmp9. For mp3's Jet Audio! Cleanest and best sound IMO!

I've been using WMP instead of WinAMP since I got Windows XP and I especially like version 9. I like how it seemlessly handles my music library and how you can set folders to be automatically monitored and updated when new media information is available from the internet.

As for sound quality, I rip all of my songs to lossless WMA and it sounds just like the CD does even though it's still using a VBR format to save space.
