International Association of Athletics Federations.




It's official: Caster Semenya is a woman.

The international track star, sidelined for nearly a year as a debate raged over her gender, was cleared for competition Tuesday by the International Association of Athletics Federations.

The South African sensation won the 800-meters in last August's world championships, setting a world record.

But her deep voice, coupled with a dramatic improvement in speed and muscle, stirred sparked speculation about her gender. She has not run competitively since.

"I am thrilled to enter the global athletics arena once again and look forward to competing with all the disputes behind me," the 19-year-old said in a statement released by her lawyers.

Published reports suggested she was a hermaphrodite, with both male and female sexual organs. The increased testosterone from the male organs could provide a competitive advantage.

The IAAF, after hearing from a panel of medical experts, cleared Semenya to immediately resume competition as a woman.

In a statement announcing the decision, the IAAF added that medical details of her case will be kept confidential and the sports organization will not comment further on the controversy.

Why did it take a year to determine this? Couldn't a simple medical examination clear her in a day?

If she bleeds for a week every month and doesn't die, that seems fairly conclusive to me.
 
Now you KNOW..... Somewhere out there there is a country going "So, if we take this guy..........."

Really, a sad day. Slap in the head to the above poster. My WIFE cant get pregnant. And I assure you, she is a woman.


At least the PGA stepped up years ago and didnt allow a "handicaped" person to play the tour if he used a golf cart. Walking a squillion yards IS part of the game and the endurance. If you never walked it, then you cant comment.

Actually, if his lawyers had won, I was going to use that as basis for my grounds into the MLB. I cannot hit a fastball. Why? Ummm, cause I have a birth defect that doesnt allow my neurons to fire rapidly enough. So, if he won, I was going to sue to play in the show with the caveat no one can pitch anything over 85 to me. ;-)
 
This "chick" lacks ovaries, but has testicles...yet she is a woman? Last I check, you can't grow a baby in your body with testicles.

So if a man shoots blanks and can't get a woman preggo, he's not a man?

Under your classification anyone who can't sexually reproduce is not a man or a woman? What is their gender ? It?

Maybe we should disqualify all atheletes who are sterile? No babies, no live bullets, no trophy for you!

He's less of a man in our society.

Barren women are typically less criticized.

WTF? Who mentioned anything about sterility. This is about a person, who was born with TESTICLES, trying to pass off as a woman to gain an unfair advantage over others who are naturally female.

We (the world) are becoming too "Ohhh Everyone needs a chance....."


Cause this WILL be exploited. If not today. Maybe tomorrow. But it will be.
In fact, it already is. She blew the world record away by how much?

FWIW she was raised as a women her entire life. shes not trying to pass off as a woman, she is one.
