Met Fred Rogers once when he was doing some voiceover work at the sound studio I worked at. 100% genuine, the real deal. Insisted I call him Fred, even though it didn't seem right to me. :)

That shouldn't affect you years later in adulthood unless there is some trauma like someone touching you while watching the show.

Children: No one should ever touch you in a way that makes you feel uncomfortable. If anyone does touch you in ways that make you feel uncomfortable, find an adult you can trust and tell them.

Nor should any adult have to fixate on this subject time and time again in but one public thread on the internet.

This is a safe place. Just ask Mayne. We're here for you, disappoint. Tell us of your journey to completeness. :roseiconherebecauseIcare:

Edit: Awwww, but, hey, OP, thanks for your thread.

Awesome, kranky. You were in the presence of a guy, just another human being, who was, through and through and to his core, about as good and decent a human being as possible . . . in media hype terms, a hero. My hero.

Our free market, to the extent that it has actually been a free market, has been an amazing engine of growth and change and abundance and creativity in our country, but it has never been the be-all and end-all, something crude ideologues have never been able to understand, let alone admit.

The free market has never before, and never since, been able to produce and promote a program that has had the positive impact of Mr. Rodgers.

Here, in a different and more hopeful time and place, was its genesis.

Now look I may poke fun at religious people's goofy thoughts from time to time because they usually do an abysmal job at understanding the universe around them but I have to keep in mind that not everyone can be a scientist and that they are just doing the best they can. Even if you don't "get it" and say or do stupid things, even if you don't agree with me, even if we don't see eye to eye on some issues: Mr. Rogers reminded me to love you all just the way you are.

High five for incorporating religion into a secular topic thread.

Never really watched the show as a child..was busy watching spider-man/tarzan and other hanna barbera shows.

He was a good man though.

Great guy. Selfless. He used his entire life to make the world a better place. If only that was the life goal of every person...

This is an odd thread for disappoint. He's being too nice. Was he drunk when he started it? Oh wait...he's right here. Disappoint, are you being nice to religious people for some reason? What happened?

Sorry, my eyes were raped as a young boy by internet goatse fans. What has been seen cannot be unseen. Well that's not entirely true but let's just say has not been unseen as of yet. Also 2 girls 1 cup and lemon party. Woe is the world without Fred Rogers. At least we still have scientists.

No.

Disappoint, are you being nice to religious people for some reason?
Yes.

What happened?
Some people, even if they were religious at one time, deserve respect. Fred Rogers and Sir Isaac Newton come to mind to name just 2. Unsuprisingly, their religious views were not the reason for their much deserved admiration. While I still regard almost all religious dogma as bogus at best, not everyone had the opportunity to see that.

Some select few have, despite their religious views, contributed to humanity so greatly, that their erroneous beliefs cannot take away from their great accomplishments.

Thanks for yours. That was a poignant speech he gave. I hadn't seen it before.
